Seidel is an absolute beast. Good lord what a clinic at 133 as he easily techs Redding.

I'm afraid VT has passed us. Multiple top ten true freshmen, Bo Bassett coming in next year. We better hit the portal hard.
That's not a shot at Buesgens- he beat Gaj earlier this year and this is a bit of a flukey result, but tonight will likely be a rough result.

Whole team struggles on the mat. We don't ride anyone. We constantly end periods on bottom. Makes no sense.

A lot closer than expected. That kid was solid.

That is an inexcusable third period from Brophy. Gave up two takedowns and was ridden out for well over a minute.

This was always going to be an all-hands-on-deck situation for NC State to win the regular season. Not enough folks got the job done against VT to make it happen. Brophy or Cates needed to get something. Neither did. NC State has got to give Trumble a shot to close at the end, because he is almost a guarantee.

We've been in a tough spot since Fishback transferred last year and Arrington got hurt this year. State has struggled to bring in good wrestlers through the portal- I assume that's an NIL issue but it's the reality.
We might still have four AAs and maybe Trumble wins the natty so lots left to wrestle for.

Looks like we've got a solid 5 in Trumble, Matty, Vince, Denny, & Buesgens. After that, not sure what we've got!!
And Pop loves to give starters nights off in conference matches - for reasons I've never understood. Sat Vince tonight so that's at least a 7 point swing.
Arrington is done for the year. If Zepeda's injury is long-term (and it sure looked like it was an ACL in the finals of the Southern Scuffle), we're in real trouble at 157. Combine that with the two transfers you brought in at 133 (Redding) and 197 (Brophy) not being very good, and this lineup is destined to get beat in conference.
Virginia had two ranked wrestlers, and one of them lost to Matty Singleton. So UVa got four wins from unranked guys. How many years back would you have to go in the Pop era to find the last time State lost four matches to unranked wrestlers in the same dual?

Was he sick or didn't make weight? Trimble said something about someone not making weight in one of his interviews.

Won't have a ton of updates tonight but I really like how Redding has been wrestling the last few weeks (last week's ass whoopin aside).
I think he can make it to NCAA's with a good showing at the ACC Tournament. We should have a good amount of allocations at each weight for the conference.
