Consiglio got a takedown to open the match but Jack gets a reversal and puts Consiglio on his back and after a lengthy struggle, gets the fall.

149: #5 Koy Buesgens major dec. #13 A. Valencia 13-4

Koy was just dominate with his defense, scoring off counters multiple times before getting a sweet fireman's carry for the late takedown to secure the major.

Love watching this kid wrestle. He just frustrates his opponents with his discipline.

Hellofva win for RJ, hasn't wrestled well lately. Great reversal and pin!!

157: #9 D. Cardenas technical fall Brogan Tucker 21-5

Tough match for freshman Brogan Tucker against #9 Cardenas. Actually thought he fought well, had a bunch of scrambles and put himself into a few 50/50 opportunities but Cardenas is too strong and got what he wanted in the second half of the match.

10-5 Pack through 3 matches

165 #16 Will Denny dec. EJ Parker 6-5.

Didn't think this was a great performance by Denny, won on a second stall call with under 40 seconds left. Would like to see him be more aggressive on his feet, especially with the ease he got his first period takedown with. Felt he could've gotten riding time over a minute but was a little loose on top.

He's a true freshman, and a damn good one. Good for him to stack wins at this point.

13-5 Pack through 4 matches.

174: #5 Matty Singleton dec. Collin Guffey 8-2

Singleton probably should've majored this kid. Rode out the entire second period but would've been better served letting him up and getting another takedown. In the end, pretty effortless win.

16-5 Pack at the halfway point. With Trumble and Vince still to wrestle, feeling pretty good about this one.

184: A. Wojcikiewicz dec. Don Cates 8-5

Cates is still working himself back into shape after years off from wrestling. Came to light in this match as he had chances to get a takedown in the third when he led 5-4 but didn't seem to have anything in the tank. Gives up the late takedown and drops a winnable decision.

197: #19 A. Posada pins #27 Patrick Brophy

Brophy gets taken down and turned with a half in the first period, and stuck. He has not been a real helpful addition out of the transfer portal this season. Maybe just give this mat time to freshman Cason Howle.

16-14 Pack through 7 matches.

HWT: #2 Isaac Trumble technical fall Luke Duthie, 22-6

Trumble one of the best HWT's in the country. Duthie bumping up to 285. Not much of a contest with the skill and size difference. Looked like a dude wrestling with his little brother.

21-14 Pack through 8 matches.

125: #13 Nico Provo dec #1 Vince Robinson 4-1 in sudden victory overtime

Robinson plays with fire and gets burned in overtime. I know Vince wins a lot of close matches, but would like to see him get to his offense quicker. Seemed to be injured late, not sure what it could have been.

Danger zone for the Pack with one of Stanford's best ready to go at 133.

Zach Redding vs #7 Tyler Knox.

Redding has to keep this to just a decision for State to escape with a win

Huge effort from Zach Redding. Had to keep it to a decision. Gets a third period takedown after riding Knox for over a minute. It's a loss, but a very good one for the team.

State wins 21-20.

Two very dramatic ACC dual wins to start the year.

How we feeling about the unc-cheat dual this coming Friday? This one will probably be very close like the first two conference duals this season, and we could very well lose. Would really hate to see this epic dual win streak we have against them come to an end this season.

I'd feel better if I see Vince and Zepeda wrestle before Friday, but I don't expect to see either on Sunday.

If State wins one of 133 or 157, it's probably over before it gets to Trumble.

141 Ryan Jack loses 2-1 on riding time. You have to get out quicker in the third. You can't be down there for 90 seconds. Jack was clearly the aggressor but it didn't amount to anything.

Frustrating since his opponent never even tried to score. Jack essentially cutting him off the whistle to start the second cost him. Have to ride him for a bit and give yourself some riding time.

Denny!!!! Holy cow that was impressive

Will Denny is that dude. Probably should've been even worse. Huge result for the dual. Denny has legit AA potential as a true freshman.

Question: I'm pretty sure in high school if you're on both shoulder blades regardless of what position you're in for a whatever the count is (2-3 seconds) it's a pin. Does that not apply in college? Denny had his dude stuck multiple times he just wasn't in control.

It's actually quicker than that in college. Don't need a count. Denny did have him pinned in the second period and the ref missed it.

Yea, I knew the count was quicker but didn't know if they had to be in control. He was definitely stuck. Hopefully those 2 team points don't matter.
