No. I guess they were closing at 9. There were still plenty of people there, and he wasn't even willing to let us get a quick drink at the bar. But it was, what it was, and I'm sure he had some reason - I was just surprised at how he went about it. Best story is that it was a stop on my bachelor party. Not the first and I ended up in the bathroom sick. My buddies were in there with me and the female server continued to serve them in the bathroom. Talked about every time 42nd street comes up

The fenced-in / gated patio is directly to the left of the front door, and there was a female service person that was apparently working that area that greeted us in a very normal fashion just as anyone would have normally expected. We told her how many, and she says "let me check", opens and sticks her head inside the front door and starts talking to somebody, the manager comes to the door leans halfway out looks at us up and down (like I said, we just came from the scrimmage - left just before the special teams at the end started - so we're dressed in State gear) and just dickishly says "we're closed" and fades right back inside. We never even got inside the front door, and there was absolutely no more to the conversation after that.
I guess maybe I just think a supposed adult managing a business would say something more to the tune of "I'm sorry, we close at 9 and we're not taking any additional customers tonight". Not every State grad lives in Raleigh and has Amedeo's hours memorized.

So now you know... when you walk up to any restaurant close to 9pm you're first question should be "Hey, what time do you close?" And if the answer is 9pm, the next thing out of your mouth should be "Oh, ok, we'll come back next time. Thanks!" And that's it! Doesn't matter if there are currently 20 other people at tables camping out. Trust me, everyone working at the restaurant wants them to finish up asap.
The stressed out and annoyed manager (because his restaurant was packed at closing time) did you a favor. I guarantee if he had smiled and sat you someone back in the kitchen would have done something unpleasant to your food.

I want to say in the mid 90's, but that is just a guess. It's been Pam's Farmhouse Restaurant for a while, and the other half of the building is a bar called The Goat. Pam's is a good place to eat for breakfast.

Worked there for a couple years in college and I loved it dearly. Some of the very first barstool posts were made from the employee break room. Gonna miss this place. There really isn't anything like it.
It's a damn shame because what I always used to say to people is I loved Raleigh because it was a capital city that still felt like a small town. I know I'm speaking to the choir as a younger person here, but it is still sad.

My buddies and I would start at letter "A" as they were in alphabetical order, order drinks around, and work our way down the list. Edwards Grocery was a unique (LOL) place. We had a lot of good times there, Barry's and my spot was the old Silver Bullet Saloon (Goodnights). We loved the live music spots especially the Cameron Village Subway. Those places are truly missed. Speaking of working down a drink list. We were trying to work our way down the imported beer cooler at Mr. Dunderbak's at Crabtree. It started when they were outside the food court. Place couldn't have been 50 ft. wide with the bar all the way in the back. Another great place gone but not forgotten. My buddies and I would start at letter "A" as they were in alphabetical order, order drinks around, and work our way down the list. We had a lot of good times there, Barry's and my spot was the old Silver Bullet Saloon (Goodnights). We loved the live music spots especially the Cameron Village Subway. Those places are truly missed. Speaking of working down a drink list. We were trying to work our way down the imported beer cooler at Mr. Dunderbak's at Crabtree. It started when they were outside the food court. Place couldn't have been 50 ft. wide with the bar all the way in the back. Another great place gone but not forgotten. I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

I'm traveling out west with my grandson for his spring break from middle school. Will be back over the weekend.
Who won the race yesterday? Found it in the hotel room on tv, was watching it, went to a commercial and when it came back on it was Indy cars instead.
