I still semi-frequent Amedoes.. it's always very good. Blue Cheese dressing so I can dip the pizza crust in…

Left from Atlantic beach to visit home today the wait was over two hours to get into the oyster bar ended up at Amedeo's chicken parm and a hot anti pasta it's really Sad there's nothing left for us older Raleigh people
Last time I went prior to then though the food was still just as good as always, but I don't know if I'll ever try to go again after that experience or not.
Storm must have gotten the manager on duty. Based on my visits, I've never been treated that way.ncsupack1 said:TheStorm said:Last time I tried to go was after the Savage Wolves football scrimmage late last summer... got there at 8:50 on a normal night and the 20 something year old male manager wasn't interested in accommodating our group and turned us away. Oh wow. That is strange.
No. I guess they were closing at 9. There were still plenty of people there, and he wasn't even willing to let us get a quick drink at the bar. But it was, what it was, and I'm sure he had some reason - I was just surprised at how he went about it. He wasn't professional whatsoever, it was kind of just the **** you approach.caryking said:Storm must have gotten the manager on duty. Maybe they always close at 9. Just seemed early for a food and drink establishment to be closing in the middle of a college commercial district.
It's not strange at all. Walking into a restaurant when they're closing in 10 minutes is completely obnoxious. He deserves what he got.ncsupack1 said:TheStorm said:Last time I tried to go was after the Savage Wolves football scrimmage late last summer... got there at 8:50 on a normal night and the 20 something year old male manager wasn't interested in accommodating our group and turned us away. I'll accept being called an asshat for pulling into an iconic college restaurant in one of the main university commercial districts at 8:50PM in mid-August while it's still light out even with 15 cars in the parking lot, 20 people eating and drinking on the outside fenced-in / gated patio, other people still inside and not realizing that they close at 9. You got me Smarpty. I'm guilty.
The fenced-in / gated patio is directly to the left of the front door, and there was a female service person that was apparently working that area that greeted us in a very normal fashion just as anyone would have normally expected. We told her how many, and she says "let me check", opens and sticks her head inside the front door and starts talking to somebody, the manager comes to the door leans halfway out looks at us up and down (like I said, we just came from the scrimmage - left just before the special teams at the end started - so we're dressed in State gear) and just dickishly says "we're closed" and fades right back inside. We never even got inside the front door, and there was absolutely no more to the conversation after that.
I guess maybe I just think a supposed adult managing a business would say something more to the tune of "I'm sorry, we close at 9 and we're not taking any additional customers tonight". Not every State grad lives in Raleigh and has Amedeo's hours memorized.
The server just awkwardly smiles and says "I'm really sorry about that". She was nice and nothing in her short interaction with us would have given us the impression that us showing up there thinking that they were open to eat was untoward or anything else negative in any way shape or form. She didn't owe us any apology. She knew he acted like a dick..
We went to the sit down sushi restaurant just down and across the street, got a table and ate with no issues whatsoever.
Yes Smarpty, you got me.
It's pretty clear you've never worked in a restaurant, and like most conservatives are empathy-challenged.TheStorm said:

Like a lot of other "renaissance" people, I worked at multiple restaurants while I was in high school and college. Which I guess is where I learned the basic level of human empathy that seems like a foreign language to you idiots.
Bear Stearns? Ouch, that's a low blow. You know I was at Lehman Brothers... you've blathered about it at least 100 times. And most recently was the CTO thing.
We all can't be the king of Cary, though.

It's a sad day.
Daryl's used to have what they called the Barrel of Fun, which was a neat little barrel looking cardboard menu that had every drink that they made listed on it. My buddies and I would start at letter "A" as they were in alphabetical order, order drinks around, and work our way down the list. It took many trips to drink them all, but when we did, we just started over and drank them all again.Glasswolf said:Darryl's was my spot. Edwards Grocery was a unique (LOL) place. We had a lot of good times there, Barry's and my spot was the old Silver Bullet Saloon (Goodnights). We loved the live music spots especially the Cameron Village Subway. Those places are truly missed. Speaking of working down a drink list. We were trying to work our way down the imported beer cooler at Mr. Dunderbak's at Crabtree. It started when they were outside the food court. Place couldn't have been 50 ft. wide with the bar all the way in the back. Another great place gone but not forgotten. Decent food also.Tootie4Pack said:Daryl's used to have what they called the Barrel of Fun, which was a neat little barrel looking cardboard menu that had every drink that they made listed on it. And ate those great Daryl's crackers, which was thin pizza crust baked up just right and great with cold beer.
And the nights we spent in the Circus Room. Then would slide down to Ed's Grocery and act like we knew how to dance.

I'm traveling out west with my grandson for his spring break from middle school. Will be back over the weekend.
Who won the race yesterday? Found it in the hotel room on tv, was watching it, went to a commercial and when it came back on it was Indy cars instead.
