The No. 2 national recruit Victoria Osuigwe has signed her National Letter of Intent to join the NC State women's tennis program starting in the fall of 2025. Osuigwe is the highest ranked U.S. recruit in NC State women's tennis program history.

"I speak for everyone associated with Pack women's tennis that we are incredibly proud to welcome Tori and her family to the program," said head coach Simon Earnshaw. "David and I have worked extremely hard over the past decade to provide an environment that's not just about providing opportunities at the next level during and post college, but growing and scaling players' games to provide for the best opportunity for success in the pros."

For the third straight season, fourth overall, head coach Simon Earnshaw has locked in a top 10 recruit. Freshman Mia Slama was the No. 5 recruit out of the 2024 class, Maddy Zampardo was ranked No. 9 in the 2023 class and Abigail Rencheli came in at No. 9 in 2020.

"Obviously, Tori's parents, Jessica and Desmond, have done an amazing job themselves, have unique insight into this process and fully understand what it takes," added Earnshaw. "Tori will bring tremendous experience and great energy to the program. I expect her to make an immediate impact in the ACC and across the landscape of college tennis. Go Pack!"

Osuigwe is the No. 2 ranked Blue Chip recruit in the class of 2025. She was a doubles finalist at the 2024 USTA 18's National Hard Courts and had a successful 2023 season, winning doubles at the W25 Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and was a runner-up in doubles with future teammate Gabriella Broadfoot at the W25 Bethany Beach, DE. Osuigwe was also a singles quarterfinalist at the 2018 USTA 18s National Hard Courts.

Osuigwe was a nine-time ITF Pro Circuit Doubles semifinalist and three-time ITF Pro Circuit Singles quarterfinalist. Her highest rankings are the following: No. 673 in WTA Singles and No. 377 in the WTA Doubles.

Osuigwe is a Bradenton, Florida native and a part of an athletic family as the youngest of three children. Her father, Desmond, played tennis at Jackson State, her mother, Jessica, played softball in college, her sister, Whitney, is a WTA professional and her brother, Deandre, played basketball at Florida A&M.

She chose NC State because she felt confidence in the coaching staff and the support of her goal in playing professional tennis. She believes the coaching staff will be able to improve her development to ensure success, and felt a connection to NC State from the beginning.

As those who follow tennis probably know, her older sister (22 yo) Whitney is pro, who's been as high as 105 in the world in singles.

This season (2025) will probably be a little bit of a rebuilding year and drop off from the previous 3-4 years of consistently being a top 10 to 15 program - after losing Rajecki and the other seniors from last year. But with the way they've been recruiting over the past 3 years, I would expect that by next season (spring 2026) we'll be back in the mix as a top 10 program - after adding Osuigwe, and with the other young but highly talented players currently on the roster with more experience.

Saw this most recent win posted on the official NC State women's tennis Instagram several days back...

Victoria Osuigwe has had a few wins over WTA top 400 players in the last month or so. About a week ago, she beat Sophie Chang (WTA #256) by a score of 6-2, 6-4. And about a month ago, she defeated Ekaterine Gorgodze (WTA #395) 6-4, 6-3.

Saw this posted on the team IG this morning.

Osuigwe beat current Virginia senior Annabelle Xu (currently ranked #37 in D1 in singles in the NCAA) yesterday. Xu plays #3 singles for Virginia this year, and beat Maddy Zampardo earlier this season at our dual vs Virginia in 3 sets.

I think it's safe to say that Osuigwe projects to come in next season and play one of the top 3 singles spots for us immediately, which bodes well for us having an extremely good team next year -- considering that we can return everyone on our roster. I would expect us to be a top 5 team nationally next season, and in contention for the national title.

Absolutely, it's really incredible that we are now a consistent top 10-15 program (have been for virtually all of the last 4-5 years), and project to remain so over the next 3-4 years and even trending higher, IMO...with our recruiting only getting better over the last few years. The NC State women's tennis program was a cellar dweller in the ACC for decades prior to the arrival of our current head coach ~2014, and it was probably considered "impossible" for our program to ever reach this level. I hope we can hold on to our head coach, Earnshaw...he's only in his mid 50s I would guess. I'm not saying I know of any reason why we would lose him...but just with this current situation with the B1G and SEC having a big $$ advantage, I hope no one tries to steal him away.

I think over the next 2 seasons (2026-2027) we project to have teams that should be in the top 5 all year long and legit contenders for the national title.
