NC State gymnastics head coach Kim Landrus announced the Wolfpack's 2025 schedule on Thursday.

Wolfpack fans will get an early preview of this year's squad when the Pack hosts the annual Red & White Exhibition on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024.

The Wolfpack's 45th season-opener is set for Jan. 4, 2025, as NC State takes on its former conference foe and 2024 EAGL conference champion Towson at home.

The dual meet against the Tigers is the first of five dual meets at Reynolds Coliseum for NC State this season. The Wolfpack's first ACC meet comes Feb. 2 when it hosts Cal in just the third meeting between the programs. The Pack continues its home schedule with a meet against Pittsburgh on Feb. 8, followed by a rivalry showdown with North Carolina on Feb. 21. NC State wraps up its home schedule with a marquee non-conference matchup against Ohio State on March 7. The Buckeyes finished the 2024 season ranked No. 13 nationally.

For the second consecutive year, NC State will compete in the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad on Jan. 10 at 9 p.m. ET at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The event, which will stream live on ACC Network, includes Arizona, Clemson, and Michigan, along with ACC rivals Cal, Pitt, and Clemson among the 12 participating teams.

The Wolfpack's road schedule includes three key conference duals, beginning with a showdown against Stanford on Jan. 18. The Cardinal, which concluded the 2024 season ranked fifth nationally, will kickoff its ACC slate with a match up against the reigning ACC Champions. Following Stanford, the team faces North Carolina on Jan. 24. Later in the season, the Pack visits Clemson for another conference showdown on Feb. 14.
NC State will then travel to Ames, Iowa, for its first tri-meet of the season on Feb. 28, facing Iowa State and Denver.
To conclude the regular season, NC State will travel to Washington, D.C., to compete in its final quad meet against George Washington, Maryland and Towson on March 14.
With an eye on securing its second consecutive ACC title, NC State will open its postseason on Saturday, March 22, at the ACC Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina.
NCAA Regionals are slated for April 2-5, with locations varying. Under Coach Landrus' leadership, the Wolfpack has qualified for NCAA Regionals every year during her eight-season tenure.
The NCAA National Championship will be held April 17-19 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The NC State gymnastics team set a program record for its highest season-opening score with a 195.825, topping Towson's 194.425 in Reynolds Coliseum on Saturday.

The Wolfpack welcomed fans back to Reynolds Coliseum for their 2025 season opener, surpassing their 2023 season-opening score of 195.525, set against ACC rival North Carolina.

Head Coach Kim Landrus expressed her excitement about the crowd's energy, saying, "First, I want to thank all our fans for coming out right after the holidays to support and cheer on Pack Gymnastics. The energy and vibe in the venue were electric."

NC State successfully hit all 24 routines in Saturday's meet, highlighted by Ashley Knight, who claimed the vault title with a 9.850, Maddie Hall, who topped the beam with a 9.850, and Syniya Thomas and Chloe Negrete, who shared the top spot on floor with scores of 9.850.

"I'm very proud of how the team carried what they've been practicing into the competition." Said Landrus. "Nerves are part of our sport, but controlling them and using them to our advantage, like the team did today, is key to our success. Hitting 24-for-24 in our first meet is a solid start."

Thomas made an impressive debut, scoring 9.800 or higher in all her events. She finished second on vault with a 9.825, third on beam with a 9.800, and tied with Negrete for first on floor with a 9.850.

#8 in the country? Wow. I searched and see this is apparently based on the scoring of the first meets of the year from all teams - at link below, which is the "official" website for NCAA gymnastics ranking. Apparently not all teams competed this past weekend though, and some teams are not included in the ranking since they haven't competed yet. I don't see Clemson, UNC, or Stanford on there yet...for example. So we could fall a few spots once other teams are added to the rankings:

https://roadtonationals.com/results/standings/season/2025/1/0/5

It surprises me that we are ranked this high. We were as high as #16 in the country last year, I believe, but then at the NCAA tournament we did not perform so well...and showed, IMO, that we might have been more in the range of 20-25th best in the country. However, it was my first year really following gymnastics, so I'm not very keen on how to judge how good we really were. I believe there is some "politics" involved in the scoring sometimes, and we may have got shafted in the first round of the NCAAs last year...and actually been better than that result showed. And we lost our best gymnast from last year, Emily Shepard, due to graduation. I guess we must have added some fairly good freshman or newcomers for this season.

Regardless, I love the results/ranking thus far. Would love to see them challenge Cal (currently #6 in the country) for the ACC title. Based on the results from the first meets, looks like we can at least keep it competitive with them.

We had a pretty big crowd at the first home meet in Reynolds this past weekend too, against a "lesser" opponent, Towson. Officially 2,081 per GoPack. Based on that and the good ranking/results thus far, I bet they could get over 3,000 for the home meets against Cal and UNC later this season, and maybe set the home attendance record.
