The NC State softball team dropped both games on day one of The Raleigh Times tournament. The loss in game one to UNCW snapped the Pack's seven game winning streak and six-game home winning-streak.

The Wolfpack moves to 12-7 overall on the season.

UNCW 5, NC State 4
How it Happened
The Seahawks posted two on the board in the opening frame after a two run homer by Maggie Pertee.
UNCW posted three more on the board in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead over NC State.
Graduate infielder Michele Tarpey recorded the Pack's first hit of the afternoon with a single in the bottom of the second, but NC State was unable to score to minimize the deficit.
The bottom of the sixth saw a two out rally from the Wolfpack as freshman Kendall Simmers singled to get on base. Junior Hannah Church followed up Simmers' hit with a moon shot to left field to get NC State on the board. Tarpey would single before junior MaKayla Marbury hit her second homer of the season to left field to bring the Pack within one, 5-4.
NC State kept the Seahawks off the board in the top of the seventh and attempted to rally in the bottom but the effort was cut short after UNCW picked up the final out.
Wynne Gore pitched 4.1 innings and picked up three strikeouts to lead the pitching staff in the outing.

Michigan 5, NC State 3
How it Happened

The Wolverines struck first in the top of the third after a single allowed one to score.
Michigan added three more to the board in the fifth after two singles and a double allowed runners to score.
NC State found momentum in the bottom of the fifth when freshman Kendall Simmers singled with two outs to bring home Tori Ensley.
The Pack minimized the deficit to one in the bottom of the sixth after graduate Hannah Goodwin hit a bomb to left and junior Teagan Thrunk hit one of her own to follow suit. The homer was Thrunk's first of the season and since she joined the Wolfpack in the off season.
Heading into the seventh, NC State trailed 4-3 and despite the Wolverines getting one into scoring position, the Pack's defense stopped them from adding any insurance runs to the board.
Senior Taylor Ensley singled to left field with one out on the board but the Wolverines struck out the next two members of the Pack to end the game on top, 4-3.
Wynne Gore pitched 4.1 innings for the Pack and had two strikeouts.
