The NC State women's soccer team dropped Thursday night's nonconference matchup 1-0 to William & Mary

Leah Iglesias scored the game-winner in the 56th minute, finishing off a cross from Molly Widderich. The Wolfpack outshot the Tribe 13-6 for the match and 7-3 in the final 45 minutes, but Iglesias' goal proved to be the difference in the low-scoring match at Dail Soccer Stadium.

NC State and William & Mary were knotted at 0-0 after a scoreless first half. The Wolfpack doubled the Tribe in shots, holding a 6-3 advantage in the opening half

Antonella Mazziotto gathered a throw in from Brooklyn Holt down the right wing and fended off a defender before firing the Pack's first shot on goal of the match in the 10th minute. NC State came close to the opening goal once again in the 32nd minute when Taylor Chism's header off a corner kick struck the left post.

William & Mary logged two shots on goal in the first half, including a long-range effort outside the 18-yard box from Ivey Crain.
The Tribe started the second half with a pair of scoring opportunities in quick succession. Crain dragged her right-footed shot just wide of the left post in the 47th minute before recording a shot on target less than a minute later.

NC State recorded the final five shots of the match following William & Mary's goal. Abi Hugh led the Wolfpack with three shots, while Mana Nakata and Annika Wohner each logged two shots apiece.

Sophomore forward Jade Bordeleau netted a hat trick to power the NC State women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over George Washington on Sunday afternoon at Dail Soccer Stadium.

Bordeleau recorded her first goal of the season to give the Wolfpack a 1-0 lead late in the first half. Bordeleau's original effort was blocked before Mary Frances Symmes crossed the ball back in from the right side. George Washington goalkeeper Ainsley Lumpe could not collect Symmes' cross, leading to Bordeleau charging in to finish off the Pack's opening goal in the 39th minute.

Bordeleau needed less than a minute in the second half to double the Wolfpack's advantage to 2-0. NC State goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas logged the assist as her long service from her own half dropped in beyond the George Washington defensive line, allowing for Bordeleau to chase down the pass and finish for her second goal of the day.

Bordeleau completed her hat trick in the 48th minute with her second solo goal of the day, making it 3-0 when her right-footed finish whistled past Lumpe. The sophomore's hat trick marked NC State's first hat trick since Tziarra King recorded one five years ago to the day on Sept. 15, 2019, against Furman. The Wolfpack won that match 3-1 over the visiting Paladins.

Yuna Aoki concluded the scoring for the Pack with her first-career goal, blasting a left-footed effort into the top-right corner for a 4-0 lead in the 60th minute. Paige Tolentino and Rosalie Olou recorded assists on Aoki's strike.

NC State outshot George Washington 21-5 on the afternoon, holding a 9-1 advantage in shots on target. The Wolfpack dominated in the second half with 16 of its 21 shots coming in the final 45 minutes. Bordeleau led the Pack with five shots and three on goal, while freshman Madie Miller ranked second in both categories with four shots and two shots on target.

Pratapas logged her third shutout of the season in the 4-0 victory. She made her only save of the match in the first half.

NC State women's soccer catches fire, Bordeleau etches hat trick in 4-0 win over George Washington

]Sophomore forward Jade Bordeleau brought the boom in NC State women's soccer's explosive 4-0 win over George Washington on Sunday at Dail Soccer Stadium.
Before the Pack's match against the Revolutionaries, Bordeleau hadn't registered a goal in 2024. Suddenly, the French native earned herself a hat trick in a matter of minutes as she led her team to a dominant victory over George Washington (2-4-2) that snapped a two-game, scoreless losing streak for the Wolfpack (3-4-1).
Before the Pack's win over the Revolutionaries, NC State suffered back-to-back scoreless losses against Rutgers and William & Mary, respectively. Struggling with inconsistency and a lack of offensive playmaking, Bordeleau played hero for the Pack in the Sunday afternoon showdown.

"It feels good," Bordeleau said. "I don't know what unlocked in me, but I think it was a team effort today. We felt good before the game, and I just think that everybody contributed to those goals."
The Wolfpack overcame its slow start to the bout when Bordeleau broke the ice in the 40th minute with her first of three scores. After a shot saved by George Washington keeper Ainsley Lumpe deflected into the box, Bordeleau found the rebound and smashed in her first goal of the season.
NC State entered the halftime break with a boost of momentum, and both Bordeleau and NC State weren't satisfied with just the one score.
"It felt like a little boost of energy," Bordeleau said. "... It was kind of a team effort, I just finished it, I was there. I think it just gave us a little boost to be like, 'Okay, we're in this game. We can get more.'"
Just six minutes into the second half, Bordeleau struck again. Assisted on a booming, cross-field pass from junior goalkeeper Olivia Pratapas, Bordeleau outran and boxed out the opposing defenders to earn a breakaway chance. The sophomore showed no hesitation, slotting away her second goal of the day.

Fans celebrating Bordeleau's second score didn't even have time to sit down before her next one. Less than one minute later, NC State forced a turnover deep in opposing territory. Bordeleau capitalized and finished off her hat trick.
Up 3-0, NC State tacked on one more goal for good measure by way of sophomore defender Yuna Aoki. If George Washington stood no chance of a comeback before, the Revolutionaries definitely didn't after the Pack's fourth and final goal.
NC State rode its lead all the way until the end of the game as Pratapas and the Pack finished off their shutout defensively.
The red-and-white is set to begin its always-challenging slate of ACC games against California on Thursday. For head coach Tim Santoro, beating George Washington 4-0 is one thing, but after the previous two games without goals, finding a consistently dangerous attack is another.
"We've had opportunities to do that in other games," Santoro said. "It's just the inconsistency of our attack. We have games with three, four and five [goals] and then we have games with zero. And so we just got to find consistency when we attack and pass the ball and when we do it, we're not a bad team, but that's what we have to find in the next three days."
Bordeleau also emphasized consistency as NC State's point of emphasis in preparing for a daunting list of conference opponents.
"Consistency I think that's our main point to focus on," Bordeleau said. "And I think we're able to take any team that's coming our way. We just got to give everything we have, execute our actions and perform the best we can, because we are a good team, and we can show them."
The Wolfpack will look to find that consistency against the Golden Bears on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the third tilt of a four-game home stretch at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh.

The red-and-white suffered a decisive collapse in a high-scoring second half, giving up its 1-0 lead after Cal scored three goals in just 11 minutes. By the end of the Golden Bears' (8-1-1, 1-0 ACC) torrent stretch, NC State (3-5-1, 0-1 ACC) was left with a sudden two-goal deficit and 15 minutes later, a loss in its ACC-opening match.

"Really bad 11-minute stretch in the second half," said head coach Tim Santoro. "Can't let Lema get free and we let her get free a couple times. It wasn't too complicated. We knew who the key player was, and it burned us."

"It's 90 minutes you have to be consistent throughout a game," Santoro said. "We talked about it. It was just a small stretch tonight, it killed us."

It won't get any easier from here for the Pack NC State is set to face off with No. 1 Stanford on Sunday. The red-and-white will clash with the perennial college women's soccer powerhouse at 1 p.m. to finish off its four-game home stand at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh.
