I had family members come over and I missed the race. I literally turned on the TV as Bell was crossing the finish line. How was the racing?
I hope you told Brad that I said hello...
my brother? If so, did you meet him?

Nah, man... I've never met him, but just wanted to show you that I pay attention to your posts.

How would maybe you, Glass and ncsu think about trying to put together a small group of us to go to a race this season? Would love to meet everyone here in person sometime. It's got to be 35 years since I've been to one in person at this point.

Works for me. Last one I went to was the 2011 August Bristol weekend.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Starting to sound like the 4 or 5th OEM we keep hearing about.

And the VERY LAST THING NASCAR NEEDS is another 1/2 mile track.

Agree, right now that type of racing hasn't been the best.

I missed this yesterday. Right now my schedule is a mess. 36 years is way too long. Lol

anyone here going to Rockingham? Thinking about going to the xfinity race

@FS1 got a 1.43 rating and 2.82 million viewers for Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Phoenix; there's no direct comparison to last year as that event was on @FoxTV's broadcast channel (4.028 million viewers).

@TheCW got 1.2 million for Saturday's Xfinity race, up 13% YOY.

I've thought about it, I know a couple of people going. We hit up so many races, I just haven't made up my mind.

I don't know why but Xfinity just feels so right on the CW. Like, it's just where it belongs and the numbers are proving it, haha.

Agree. Just think what the numbers would be if all CW affiliates aired the races.

I think the pushback from the girl who ran this past weekend, could have played a role here. I'm not a 100 percent sure But yes, the back and forth continues.

I think it would be cool if NASCAR adopted the F1 style of teams and the points system.

Teams can only and/or must have 2 or 3 cars
Limit the number of teams to 15
Personally, I'd like to see 2 car teams only, meaning 30 cars on the track.

Points only go to the top 10 or 15 place finishes.
Team points assigned.
Individual and team championships.
No stage points.
Shorten races.

Also, it would be nice to see a primary sponsor for a team and the team cars look alike…

Dale Jr. mentioned on one of his podcast about how high the amount of debris cautions had gone up. Once they started stage racing the amount of debris cautions went substantially down. I'm all for doing away with stages.

I don't like them either. The issue is when NASCAR did away with them on road courses recently, folks threw a fit about it. I believe one race was maybe a hour and half.

I know it's a different day and age of racing but I often wonder what Dale Sr's reaction (along with Waltrip, Gordon and others) would have been if NASCAR approached him and asked his opinion about the current format. Well, Big E. We're going to run 26 races and have 2 breaks during them and after those 26 races we're going to take the top 12 and reset them and set the points at basically zero.

I know why they have the playoffs. To put an emphasis on winning but still

I'm blown away that Bell is 2nd in points after winning 3/4 races. I mean, I'm sure it makes sense somehow within the current rules but how the heck can a guy that won 3/4 be 2nd in points? Byron has a 27th place finish and Bell has a 31st I think, but that puts Byron ahead? Huh??

lol

Agree. Maybe it's stage points? The old scoring you got points for a win, leading a lap and leading the most laps.

My guess is the 24 overall has had a consistent start to finish year so far. Without looking it up, but yes, you would think that the 20 is the points leader.

It's stage points. I saw it Monday, somewhere around a 20 point difference.

It's only an anomaly though, because those wins don't really kick in until the playoffs start and Bell is clearly the points leader when you take that into account.
