The NC State women's golf team hosted an exciting first day of competition at the Wolfpack Match Play on Sunday, with eight schools participating in the first and second rounds of bracket play at Lonnie Poole Golf Club.

NC State began the day with a matchup against conference-rival Florida State, resulting in a dramatic 3-2 win for the Wolfpack over the 16th-ranked Seminoles.

After posting her first under-par performance of the season in the Wolfpack's most recent tournament at the Briar's Creek Invitational, Lea Klimentova continued her hot streak with a 2&1 win over Florida State's Elle Johnson. Despite going three down through eight holes early, Klimentova proceeded to win the next four holes to gain her first lead of the day, never looking back and cruising to a crucial win.

Klimentova was additionally the only member of the Wolfpack to pick up a win in NC State's second round matchup against North Carolina.

Isabel Amezcua picked up another win for the Wolfpack against the Seminoles, knocking off Charlotte Heath, 4&3. Amezcua never trailed throughout the 15-hole match.

After Lauren Olivares Leon and Inja Fric dropped two matches by scores of 3&2 and 5&4, respectively, Natalie Armbruester and Cecilie Finne-Ipsen were subject to a sudden-death playoff after Armbruester won two of the final three holes in regulation to extend the match.

Back-to-back pars on holes one and eight were enough for Armbruester to clinch the 20-hole dual over Finne-Ipsen, putting NC State in the winner's bracket for round two.

The Wolfpack dropped its second-round matchup by a score of 4-1 to North Carolina, with Klimentova earning a dominant 6&4 win in the opening match. Olivares Leon, Amezcua, Fric, and Armbruester each competed once again for NC State in the second round.

Ryann Sinclair, Nicole Kramer, and Pilar Berchot each faced off against Tar Heel golfers as well in exhibition matches as individuals.

The Wolfpack will be back in action tomorrow against Louisville in the third-place match, with North Carolina and third-ranked South Carolina set to face off in the championship match.

NC State will begin play at 8 a.m., and patrons are encouraged to attend in what will be the Wolfpack's last home round of the season.

The NC State women's golf team wrapped up the final round of the ACC Championship's stroke play session on Friday, finishing the week in a tie for seventh place alongside Virginia Tech. This was the Wolfpack's best performance at the ACC Championship since the 2017 season, which was also the last time the tournament was held at The Reserve Golf Club.

NC State's low score on the day came from Lauren Olivares Leon, who fired a three-over par score of 75 to round out her week. Olivares Leon, the Pack's lone freshman, finished the week in a tie for 24th-place individually.

After posting a season-low round on Thursday, Lea Klimentova shot a six-over par 78 to finish the week in a tie for tenth place. Klimentova continued what has been an impressive string of tournaments after last week's 3-0 effort at the Wolfpack Match Play. Senior Natalie Armbruester rounded out the NC State lineup, tallying her second 76 (+4) of the week.

After an impressive regular season campaign, the NC State women's golf team is set to begin the NCAA Stillwater Regional hosted by Oklahoma State at the Karsten Creek Golf Club on Monday.

Serving as the nine seed in a 12-team field, it will be the 19th time in the last 20 seasons that the Wolfpack have been represented at regionals, including ten-straight showings. All 19 of NC State's regional appearances have come under the leadership of current head coach Page Marsh.

One of two ACC teams in the region, the Pack have faced off against seven of the 11 teams who will compete in Stillwater, including Auburn, Baylor, Campbell, Clemson, Furman, Michigan State, and Tulane.

A top-four finish in regionals would secure NC State's fifth NCAA Championship appearance in program history, with the most recent coming in 2015.

The Pack will be bringing six competitors to Stillwater, five starters and one potential substitute. Having participated in all eight tournaments this season, Lauren Olivares Leon, Isabel Amezcua, and Natalie Armbruester will each be traveling to compete. The Stillwater Regional will serve as the first NCAA regional appearance for all three players.

Senior Lea Klimentova will be making her second regional appearance, having last done so as a freshman in 2019. Klimentova comes into regionals riding high, following a 3-0 performance at the Wolfpack Match Play and a top-ten finish at the ACC Championship.

Rounding out the starting lineup will be Inja Fric, who will also be competing in her first-career NCAA regional.

Nicole Kramer will serve as the substitute for NC State, having competed once in the regular season for the Wolfpack.

18 holes will be played each day over three days of competition, beginning on Monday, May 9 and ending on Wednesday, May 11. As aforementioned, the top-four finishers in each of the six regionals will qualify for the NCAA Championship. Additional regional sites around the country include Albuquerque, N.M., Ann Arbor, Mich., Franklin, Tenn., Stanford, Calif., and Tallahassee, Fla.
