The NC State's women's golf team wrapped up its third tournament of the campaign on Sunday, finishing the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational in 14th place.

The Wolfpack's final round score of 288 (E), as well as its tournament total of 876 (+12), both marked season lows. Additionally, its 54-hole score is the team's best total since March 29-31, 2019, when it fired an 866 at the Bryan National Collegiate.

Natalie Armbruester shined on the final day of competition, posting her best round of the season at a two-under par 70. Armbruester totaled four birdies in her final round, finishing the tournament in a tie for 47th individually.

Lauren Olivares Leon was the top finisher of the weekend for the Wolfpack, finishing at one-over par and in a tie for 29th place. Olivares Leon used three front-nine birdies to shoot an even-par 72 on Sunday. All nine of the freshman's rounds so far this fall have been a 74 or better.

Isabel Amezcua and Lea Klimentova both finished the weekend tied for 52nd individually, shooting 72 (E) and 74 (+2), respectively, in the final round of play to finish at six-over for the tournament.

NC State's starting five was rounded out by Inja Fric, whose final round 77 (+5) was enough to earn a tie for 64th.

ACC foe Wake Forest came out victorious on Sunday, finishing at 17-under par over the course of the 54-hole event at UNC's Finley Golf Club. Rachel Kuehn of Wake Forest captured medalist honors, highlighted by a nine-under 63 on Saturday.

Next up for the Wolfpack will be the Landfall Tradition, hosted by UNCW, in Wilmington, N.C., at the Country Club of Landfall. The Landfall Tradition will be NC State's last tournament of the fall season before taking a three-month intermission from competition for the winter months.

Junior Inja Fric fired a career best round of 68 (-4) on Friday, good enough to lead all Wolfpack golfers through the opening round of play at the Landfall Tradition.

Fric was one of just 11 players to post an under-par round on Friday at the Country Club of Landfall's Pete Dye Course, as despite beautiful weather in Wilmington conditions were tough for all 18 participating schools.

Lea Klimentova finished with two birdies in her final four holes to post a one-over 73 on the day, good enough to earn a tie for 19th place. Combined with a 76 (+4) from Isabel Amezcua and a pair of nine-over par rounds of 81 from Lauren Olivares Leon and Natalie Armbruester, NC State's top-four scores helped itself earn a T10th-place finish through day one, sitting at 297 (+9).

Ninth-ranked Michigan leads all teams at 289 (+1), followed by Virginia, South Carolina, Texas, and Clemson to round out the top five.

Individually, South Carolina's Justine Fournand leads all players at five-under after posting an opening-round 67, just one shot better than NC State's Fric.

The Wolfpack will now shift focus to Saturday's round two slate, where it will tee off hole 10 between 10:09 and 10:45 a.m.

Live scoring throughout the entirety of the event will be available through GolfStat.com.

ROUND ONE RESULTS
ORLANDO, FLA. - The NC State Women's Golf team opened the spring slate of the schedule by finishing the day with its lowest round of the 2021-2022 campaign. A six-under par score of 282 was enough to put the Wolfpack in a tie for fifth place with Old Dominion, six shots back of current tournament leader Kentucky.

NC State was led by Isabel Amezcua who tied her career low with a three-under par 69. The sophomore used three birdies in her first seven holes to engineer a round good enough to position her in the top ten through the opening round of play.

Amezcua was joined by Lauren Olivares Leon and Natalie Armbruester who each fired under-par rounds as well. Olivares Leon rode the momentum of back-to-back birdies within her first five holes to card a two-under 70, while Armbruester birdied her final hole of the day to finish with an opening score of 71 (-1).

Inja Fric rounded out the Wolfpack's scoring efforts, using 16 pars en route to an even-par finish of 72. Additionally, Pilar Berchot competed in her first tournament on the season on Sunday, rounding out her day with a six-over par score of 78.

Sunday's effort was the first time since February 2020 that three Wolfpack golfers finished a round with scores under par, with the most recent occurrence coming in the 2020 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans, La.

The individual field is currently led by Kentucky's Jensen Castle, who posted a six-under 66 on the opening day of competition. Castle currently holds a one-shot lead over UCF's Tunrada Piddon, Iowa State's Taglao Jeeravivitaporn, Wake Forest's Rachel Kuehn, and Auburn's Anna Foster.

Round two will continue on Monday, with players going off at 8:45 a.m. on a shotgun start. Stats will be provided throughout the tournaments entirity on GolfStat.com.
