COMMIT ALERT: 5-Star 2021 Guard Jessica Timmons Picks NC State
NC State has landed a commitment today from Charlotte (NC) North Meck five-star guard Jessica Timmons.
An in-state star, Timmons has been on the Wolfpack’s radar for a while now and had recently cut her list to NC State, Pittsburgh, Mississippi State, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, and Boston College.
The 5-foot-8 guard averaged 24.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game as a junior at North Meck and has already scored over 2,000 points in her prep career.
She is just a few points away from breaking the school and county mark set by Wolfpack legend Andrea Stinson at North Meck.
Timmons is rated a five-star prospect by ESPN.
Recruiting Service | Star Rank | Overall Rank | Position Rank |
ESPN | ***** | No. 45 | No. 18 Guard |
What makes Timmons a priority is her versatility. She can play off the ball because she’s a terrific three-point shooter but is a strong playmaker capable of playing some point guard, as well -- particularly in the Wolfpack’s popular “Horns” sets.
She is NC State’s first commitment in the 2021 class and a close friend of another top target: Aziaha James. Timmons and James both played together on the AAU circuit with Boo Williams before Timmons was set to play this summer with the Carolina Flames.
ESPN Scouting Report: Athletic guard manufactures shots, rises on jumper in mid-range game to the arc; brings attack mode in transition game; quick off the dribble, pressures the defense and delivers in the key; catch and shoot range from beyond the arc; a stock-riser in the class of 2021.
