Brooklyn Lucero had a solid outing for NC State, pitching the first complete game of her collegiate career. Lucero (2-1) held the Blue Devils to four runs (three earned) on seven hits with three strikeouts and no walks. She pitched three scoreless innings to close out the game.
Sam Sack had a solid day at the plate for NC State in the second game, going 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and a double.
After dropping game one of the doubleheader, NC State gave up a 4-0 lead to Duke after four innings before fighting its way back into the game. April Visser and Randi Farricker drew back-to-back hit by pitches to lead off the sixth inning against Duke's relief pitcher, Claire Davidson.The Blue Devils starting pitcher, Shelby Walters reentered the game after an RBI-double by Sack before Carson Shaner drew a walk to load the bases.With the bases loaded, freshman Gracie Roberts stepped up to the plate with an opportunity and delivered, registering her first career hit with an infield single to cap off the two run inning for NC State.
