NC State redshirt junior quarterback Jalan McClendon says his team is putting in the work needed to have a successful season.

What is NC State’s work ethic like?

Receivers are doing a really good job catching balls, O-Line does their little Friday opportunity-thing -- they are always working -- the running backs are always working and the tight ends, so I think we do a pretty good job putting in our work.

Where is the game ball you received after last season’s Notre Dame contest?

It is in my room now. I don’t even know where it is. It is just a regular football, but I appreciate Coach Doeren giving me that football because that was a special game to everybody. It is just in my room somewhere.

What was it like to play Notre Dame in a hurricane?

We knew it was going to rain that game but we didn’t think it was going to be a hurricane. At halftime we changed a couple of things to get me going and do what I had to do.

Did you slip and slide?

Yeah, a lot.

What about after the game?

Naw. I was just celebrating with the guys. We weren’t worried about the mud or anything. I was just having fun.

What was it like playing at Syracuse?

It was a good game experience. I got a little two-minute drive, half-ending drive. I think it was a good experience for me. I threw a pick in the end but that’s in the past. It is something to learn from.

How strong is your arm?

I do have a pretty strong arm, but I don’t know. I think Mike [Glennon] might have a bigger arm than I do.

You look like you are significantly stronger.

That is all Coach Thunder’s program. I don’t know how much weight I have gained or how many pounds of muscle I have put on, but I know everything that everybody looks at, that is Thunder’s program.

Just look at Quentez, the linemen look a lot stronger. JaySam, Chubb both look thicker. That is all Coach Thunder.

Is the added muscle giving you confidence?

I definitely do. Anybody would, but that is all Coach Thunder’s program.
