Not bourbon, but I couldn't find the old drinking thread. Having some vodka. Needed something different.
What's your flavor of choice?
I am a cheap drinker, so right now High Rock Vodka and Savage Wolves.
Yeah I usually go cheap when I'm drinking vodka also as I mix it.
My thoughts as well.

Such a bummer seeing things overpriced like this. Would love to try some of these but just feels like a rip off when they're listed 3x-6x msrp.

Scored this one a couple of weeks ago at the Lincoln County Lottery. Really interesting pour. Lot going on there. Dark, dark chocolate, subtle wood, creamy as all get out, underlying light fruit. Really, really nice. Neat all day and twice on Sunday. Highly, highly recommended.
Log off. Go outside.

When Wild Turkey put in their new still, they had Buffalo Trace distill their (turkey's) mash bill for them and then the barrels were shipped back to Turkey to age. Turkey then decided they didn't want, or need to use them so they sold them off through some brokers. Most of these barrels are now 15-16 years old and although a novelty, they are said to have some really great barrels amongst them. Seen them anywhere from $250-$1000 secondary. Excited to see how yours is.

The wild Turkey barrels distilled at Buffalo Trace remind me of some other 15 year old juice that was going around a few years ago, reportedly from heaven Hill. I got a few different bottlings from that bunch because I'm always curious about well aged bourbon. Some were good, some not really. My thought is that distilleries don't normally sell off bourbon that is on profile and well aged, so as long as you keep that in mind, it can be fun to try things like this. I wouldn't spend outrageously on it compared to something like Russell's 15, which I know to be on profile and great.

Thanks man. I'm paid through November, so I'll be around until at least then. After that I haven't made a final decision, but I do appreciate the kind words.

So I live out of state now, and haven't had Olde Raleigh. I have family in Wilmington that could grab a bottle. How is it? Any bottles worth checking out? Mainly asking because I saw they are doing the release with Savage Wolves (which is awesome). The honey cask, coffee cask, etc. sound pretty interesting, but it also seems pretty "young" for the price

I'll preface this response with a few things. First, some very good friends know some of the folks there and they have nothing but good things to say. Second, the partnership with 1Psck is great and I'm very excited to get my hands on one of these.

My only experience with their products was a bottle of their blended bourbon. I believe it was $80. High prices aren't uncommon for craft bourbon distilleries, so I kinda knew that going in. I got it a few years ago because it was a cool bottle and I like supporting NC businesses. The liquid in the bottle was, not good. Definitely mostly very young juice, and like a lot of young juice, it was very grain forward and almost tequila like in some respects. It had a very cough syrup esque after taste, and nosed of rotten fruit. I finally finished it off this past winter using it with mixers, but yeah, not my favorite.

That said, I'll be getting the rye if for no other reason that to support the collective, and would love to try their other offerings, just probably not going to drop that much $$$ on a full bottle of bourbon without tasting it first, so I probably need to finally make it up to visit the distillery.

I hope it measures up….their vodka was first rate but I'm talking apples and oranges….want to support the collective but the product needs to be at least tolerable good. Can always use it in marinades if it's just so-so for drinking, I suppose.
