After watching his games this summer on the livestreams sometimes he seemed like a solid player. Constantly flirting with a double-double. He has the size for a forward in the acc I just think he needs a year in college before contributing.

At 6’9 he’s of the BEST defenders in the country. Kawhi like hands and 7’1 wingspan. Can legitimately guard all 5 positions. Great at covering space and guarding the PNR.

Every college in the country needs a hybrid defender like him.

Another note, pp is reporting (not sure if it's from the staff or just a hunch) that we will take 2 high schoolers this year and then use the portal. If it's just two high schoolers I think we go with billups and green as top priority. I think you then fill the 5 position with something proven if ebe/gibson don't progress well

I think you have to, Phillips hasn't shown that he can come in and be the guy. Ebe and Gibson might progress, but you can't take that chance

I think those are two positions that will be needs next year with Hellems gone. Billups and green and surely give you something combined and then fill the center spot with lateral transfer. Then any other holes can be filled via portal as others leave (which they will)

Different positions and skill sets so I doubt it. It probably comes down to the hometown factor and them actually making ncaa tournaments. Hopefully keatts has some time but from what I heard it seems like crystal balls should be coming in soon

I was concerned for this recruiting cycle when I thought we had a really good shot at Billups, I'm even more so now. We shouldn't lose a kid we really want to any A10 team

Billups had the highest potential of all of our recruits and he was already pretty good. It's a shame if he does go to vcu. At least we're starting to hear things. Just hope we don't settle for Phillips, I'd rather a wing, green and portal than Phillips. He was already dropping in the rankings before the summer and likely will drop again. Green had a pretty good summer but will likely stay a top90-75 guy

At some point, I would love to hear your insight/theory on why KK just can't seem to land enough good players.

I don't know how much can be blamed on the NCAA issues. I am sure it is baked in, I tend to give KK a pass for some of that as he took the job and then all that hit the fan if I remember correctly?

But, if you look back at the classes he had time to recruit (excluding the first class which he was just grasping at).

2018 Bates, Hellems, Funderburk was a very solid class.
2019- Seabron (who didn't even qualify and sat out a year)
2020- Cam Hayes and 2 project bigs

When you look at these 3 classes, we have signed 5 productive players. Bates, Hellems, and Fundy have/was solid players.

We return 4 of them this year. Everything else is an unknown. I can't say I expect us to be awful or great, probably somewhere in between which is a typical KK result.

We simply haven't been able to sign high level talent and retain those rotational/development type guys.
