On another note, does anyone else feel like we should be off to a better start for this class? I mean we had our 2021 class locked up in September, so I assumed we would've been in a better spot with a lot of guys.
I feel like last year was more of an exception than the norm. Baby T has been committed to us for like 10 years and Ross committed uncharacteristically early.


I agree with that, what i mean is because we were done MSI early we had a lot more time to focus on recruiting 2022 kids. But that seems like it didn't get us anywhere.


I think it's probably an exaggeration to say "it didn't get us anywhere," but I get your point and agree with your sentiment. We are after some good options, but it doesn't seem we feel overly confident about landing any of them. At least, that's the impression I get.
It's a definite exaggeration... We are in "it" for a ton of good players for '22. Can't see us striking out on all of them either. I actually like where we are with what we can control... Keatts finally seems to be building rather than chasing.


I named the guys we're in it for that we've been on for an extended period of time, getting done early hasn't helped us get in any better of a position that we would've been with them otherwise. Don't think saying that is a remote exaggeration.

The other guys we're in good for: Essandako, Thomas, Watson, Billups are all guys who we've kept tabs on but haven't offered or heavily pursued until recently. So I don't see how you can say it is a definite exaggeration that I'm saying getting an early start didn't really help us much with guys. Especially when a lot of guys we're in good with are guys we've just started reaching out to.

ETA: I'm not trying to argue with anyone, and not trying to diss Keatts with this. I'm just genuinely curious.

It's also difficult because on paper we technically have 1 scholarship to work with. Even though Allen and Hellems will likely leave. If we strike out now at least the portal is a good option

Alphonzo billiups, we offered a few weeks ago on his u official visit. I think he's at least interested, plays with Epps in aau

Deante green is still saying he is planning a visit to unc and FSU in august or September. Also an interesting comment from Green in an interview with Jamie Shaw today was that we were his first offer. Unless his Twitter is messed up we offered after VT, Tennessee, Xavier, penn state, etc. Maybe keatts offered earlier but made and official offer later on in the process

What goes into the 247 composite? Alphonzo billiups is 97 in the composite however by 247 he's 149, rivals he's 117 and unranked by espn

I unfortunately think NiL is going to hurt us. We don't have any big time donors who are willing to go that route it seems, we aren't the greatest at fundraising unfortunately as a university, and our fanbase interaction with social media is relatively small compared to other schools. For comparison, most duke players have an Instagram follower count over 20k, a guy like Joey baker has over 60k as a mediocre player for them. Our kid with the most is Hellems with 12k

We also could be there to watch LJ Thomas.

If anyone wants to see a glimpse of how successful NIL may be at State, look at the fundraising for the State Alum team for TBT. They're trying to raise $30k and have only gotten to $7k (including a $2k donation from Corch)

Hate to point this out but the Saddiq bey decommittment was a huge point in keatts tenure. If bey would've been more comfortable with state than keatts would likely be in a better position going into this year

We could very well be looking back in a couple years and point to that moment as the moment keatts tenure here went from a big upswing to his undoing. He really has to deliver this year.
