Yep Joiner is a PG. His stats were decent. I think his scoring average would put him second here last year.

his defense is just as good. That's what's important

Dream transfer class is
Joiner
Nolly
Rodriguez
Brandon Huntley-Hatfield
That would be 3 starters and a guy who started a lot of games in the sec coming off the bench. To me that would be the making of a solid team

Every time I look at what happened last year and see the changes being made this off season...keep thinking this is a case of addition by subtraction. Moved on from assistants, players moved on from us and the end results could be we come out of this with a solid team that is just a lot more fundamentally sound defensively. Will that translate into a top four finish, who knows...Keatts needs some breaks and a team that has really good chemistry right off the bat.

Oh man this would be a great class. Coupled with Baby T coming back and i think we have a top5 team. Addresses the biggest issues from last year which was interior defense and pg play.

Don't know who the 2nd assistant is gonna be but heard there were talks with Frank Haith. I think that would be a great pickup for us.

I'd love BHH but the rumor has been he'll likely end up at Georgetown but we shall see. We all saw how it played out last year when a big man was likely going to Georgetown

I admire your optimism. One Baby is not likely to come back. Two even if with him and the "dream class" above, we are long way from a top 5 team (I assume you meant in ACC).

Joiner, Baby T, Nolley would be quite the trio of guards. Add in Thomas, Morsell, Rodriguez off the bench to go with a fron court of BHH and Phillips (one of the sites had BHH as one of the top-10 transfers available). Would be one heck of a turn around.

I'm not going to jump off into the weeds about the state of the program, but when Terquavion isn't coming back for his 2nd year, after the season he had playing with a bunch of other duds, I just don't know what to say.

Hey, I know that every player in AAU nowadays thinks they are ready to go straight into the NBA out of High School... but this isn't that. This is about that nothing is there for him to even play with next year.

B... b... but the magical "Portal"!!! So far, none of the real action has even had us in a Top 3 scenario... so. I'm not expecting that the portal is going to be this "open highway" available to us to produce an immediate "addition by subtraction" scenario.

A Morsell or a Gantt isn't dramatically changing anything. Neither is a Walker, Lehigh Guy or a Dixon. This has to be multiple Al Freeman's or multiple Devon Daniels' scenario - and I don't see that trending for us right now. There are some great complimentary pieces, but that isn't going to be enough to actually effect things in any meaningful way.

We are where we are... but fantasy needs to meet reality for some of you guys posting on here. This is a dumpster fire right now. Not even sure how or why we got here, but that is 100% where we are.

Wished we weren't.

Very well said. I think a lot of people are attributing a ton of false hope to the portal, because they see other teams having success with it. There's just a few issues: keatts has struck out each and every chance at the portal the last few years, and you still need a solid foundation and then add complimentary pieces through the portal to complete your team. We even have so much as a foundation right now, and we sure as hell don't have a coach with the ability to plug and play players into his system and make it work.

People need to accept that next year is going to be really bad, potentially worse than this year, and getting 2 dudes from a horrible ole miss team isn't going to change that.

Iowa State won 2 games last year. Total. 0 conference wins. Returned only 3 guys, none of whom were starters. Their top 5 players this year were 1 freshman and 4 transfers, from Penn State, Minnesota, UNLV, and Washington State, all of which were well below .500 in their conference. None of those 4 guys were even the stars at their old schools, which were all bad teams, nor did they have fantastic stats. That team made the Sweet Sixteen this year.

If you want to choose to be miserable, feel free, but there's no need to crap all over everything for anyone else that chooses to have at least a little hope. Maybe take up a different hobby for a year, and if we suck like you think, we'll get a new coach after next season.

I really wish we could see the age of posters here. I spent my entire time at State in the Les Robinson years and I've never seen our team win anything. I feel like I had hope for longer than most of my college friends but after a couple of decades, ya just can't keep it up. It's now been 31 years since my freshman year. Most of that time has been spent losing. None of it really winning. I admire you young bucks who think we are going to get these good transfers and think we're going to be competitive next year, I really do. I still watch and cheer but I admit that I am very ā€¦ guarded. I just can't get too high or too low over this program anymore. It's not healthy.

I am quite adorable actually, but never ending ***** sessions? Not so much.

We're fielding a team next year. Keatts WILL be the coach. No matter how much sand you have in your vagina, those facts will not change. Talking non-stop about how bad we're gonna be is equivalent to screaming at the sky. Except that it's not just useless, it's incredibly annoying after the first thousand times.

This is the new normal. Recruit 2-3 high school kids, get 2-3 guys out of the transfer portal every year.

I don't think you will see schools re-recruit kids like Keatts did with Manny last year. Once that kid shows any inclination to transfer than you let them go and find someone else. This whole scenario is going to play out like pro sports.

There will be zero loyalty between players and coaching staff.

For trash teams? Sure. Look at all the good schools. They maintain their players. Look at UNC. Working for them.

Us having a trash coach who can't maintain a roster to save his life doesn't mean you have to extrapolate our struggles to all schools. (And no offense to you, tons of people have been doing this).

It's all excuses. It starts and stops with your coach.

Every team in the country has had to deal with transfers...Kentucky, Duke, Kansas and UNC. Whether it's a HOF coach or a first year coach. UNC had a few guys transfer last year. They still had one guy transfer this year. And most likely came up with a ton of NIL cash for Bacot this year.

It's the professionalization of college sports. If/when NC State gets a new coach that won't change having transfers out of the program on a yearly basis. What you hope to have is a coach who can adjust and adapt to whatever lineup he has on a yearly basis or a coach who can identify his type of players in the transfer market every year. But the days of a Fab Five class are gone and getting that top 10 or 25 high school recruiting class will be less and less impactful as guys leave after a year.

None of the players leaving those teams are impactful. It's not like bacot is leaving UNC, like manny is here.

Again, i'm tired of the excuses. Just win, but that ain't gonna happen if you cant field a team that could even compete at a D2 level

Man there are impactful players leaving nearly all programs. It's free agency in college.

Instead of seeing every single thing through a lens of crapping on Keatts maybe take a step back and see that there is a seismic change happening in college sports. And it's happening regardless if Keatts is here past next season or not. Whoever the next coach is better have a firm grasp on that or they won't last long.

That's kind of my point. We don't have a coach who can navigate these new waters. Good schools/programs do. I'm just not a fan of using it as an excuse for keatts terrible performance here. "Everyone has transfers!!!" Not everyone has to field a brand new team every single year because he can't get his players to stay. This has been an issue since pretty much his second year here.

I mean yes. They've got the benefit of having 4 and 5 stars waiting in the wings, but it's still an impactful player that they are losing lmao. The dude almost averaged 5 blocks a game.

Yeah, guess I should say these teams are not losing their only impactful/proven players like we constantly are.

Bacot was a 4/5 star, but manek was found in the portal. Hubert did better with the portal in one season than keatts has in 5, lol.

Interesting discussion.
In a way, this new structure provides a perfect cover for bad coaches, because most programs will have the potential to start over each year. So a bad coach can say, "Well, I just had a bad /incomplete roster this year, but I'll go hard to the portal for next year."
