Beautiful view from Tampa Florida 120 miles away. Can you imagine sitting on that firecracker? Rumbling sound heard 120 miles away.....what a show

Awesome show. It was my fondest wish as a little boy to be an astronaut. I had all the model airplanes and rockets with posters on my bedroom wall. I would love love love to fly something that powerful and that fast.

Very proud of my country right now.

This is a stunning level of pettiness by someone in the Governors office.

If you look at comments on social media (YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc) to even "mainstream" outlets with posts about this, there is a HUGE portion of the public now who question NASA and believe they faked the "moon landings" in the 60s and 70s.

It's not some "fringe" amount of the public who do not believe the government and NASA on these things. Recent polls from a few years ago were saying it's around 20% of the American public who believe the "moon landings" were faked. I think this view has been skyrocketing up over the last couple years. It looks more like at least 30-40% now, based on the comments I'm seeing, or higher. On a lot of the posts on this thing from yesterday, it's the vast majority of comments questioning NASA and calling these things out as faked.

My firm does work for NASA, KSC, SpaceX and Blue Origin there....if I wasn't flying out of town today I'd have found a reason to work out of our office there across the sound for a close up view. I've not seen any launches in the past either.... Love seeing our country return to advancing our civilization/species! Proud to be an American every day!

By the way, trade you a pass for the copilot seat on your next flight! Not many people fly or drive stuff like u get to!

It would be nice if just one thread on the water cooler could not be filled with crap. There are plenty of other threads for that.

1. Ignore button works great, and 2. he just can't help himself... if you want to really watch him explode (just for ****s and giggles), post something directly at him, and then sit back and enjoy.

I don't "explode" LOL. Just another smear by you to try to mischaracterize my views and activity on these boards. What actually occurs around here a lot is my opponents personally attacking me with insults. And if I get a little stern in response to that, you call it "explode".

And I'm not trying to "clutter" this thread. I haven't said much at all in this thread up to this point. I'm now raising the entirely relevant point about the fact that a very large portion of the public (based on comments on social media on this current "mission") do not believe NASA.

The point is that it's not just little ol me and a few other of some "super small fringe" of people with these views. It's a massive amount of the public, at least 30% conservatively, who don't buy it.

And now some people are whining again for censorship, to say that anyone who doesn't agree with their view shouldn't' be allowed to express their view in this thread.

Face the reality that a massive amount of people hold these views. Trying to silence those who don't buy another Establishment agenda is not going to help your cause.

Wow, so you start accusing me of things ("explode"), and then I respond to your accusation, and you pretend that this is something "impromper" on my part?

You are truly a Notradsmus here LOL. You "predicted" that I would respond to your accusation attacking me. Amazing.

Man, I couldn't believe it. My kids came home from school and knew nothing about it, nothing.

I was like, how did your teachers, no one, not bring this up?

Couple of really random facts.

The time between our last moon mission in 1972 and this moon mission, 54 years. is the same as the time between the Wright Brother's first flight in 1903 and the launch of Sputnik in 1957. I don't know why, but that seems incredible to me. But, it wasn't until China started making plans that we decided we needed to go back.

If the earth were the size of a basketball and was placed under a basket, the moon would be about the size of a tennis ball located around the NBA three point line.

As I was out early this morning to get gas at Costco, I saw the full moon and I was definitely thinking that there are 4 human souls on the way there right now.

It still amazes me the math and the physics it takes to get every burn of the engine the right amount of time and right direction is truly phenomenal. Back in the late 60's they had very little computing power like they have now. Your smart phone(if you have one, I do not) has probably at least 100,000 times more computing power than they had in 1969 when they landed on the moon. What they did back then was even more amazing then what is happening today.

True, but they also had hidden figures.

The moon landing was real. The one that was a government conspiracy fake was the Mars landing. It was well chronicled in a documentary called Capricorn One.

I remember my grand mother getting on the phone and hollering at the neighbors to get off so she can make a call.

Almost real time! 2-3 second delay.

One more random fact. When Artemis 2 is at their closest approach to the moon, it will look about as big as a basketball held at arms length. You'd think it would appear a lot bigger, right? But that's about what it works out to be based on their distance of ~4,000 miles from the lunar surface.
Oldsouljer

I can't believe there are actually folks on the internet saying the Artemis II mission is fake. Can you believe someone even said that it's only going to be able to fly from one side of the flat earth to the other?

It's probably somewhere between 30-40% of the American public who believe that.

According to this poll released by the Manhattan Institute in December 2025, 36% of current GOP voters believe that "NASA faked the 1969 Apollo moon landing":

https://manhattan.institute/article/the-new-gop-survey-analysis-of-americans-overall-todays-republican-coalition-and-the-minorities-of-maga

Quote:

  • Moon landing: A similarly sized chunk of the Current GOP (36%) believes that the Apollo 11 moon landing was faked by NASA. Again, younger men are more likely to hold this view (51% of men under 50 vs. 38% of women under 50). There are stark racial divides: while only 31% of white GOP voters believe the conspiracy, this rises to 59% among Hispanic Republicans and 63% among black Republicans.

The government-run public schools (and Hollywood, Lamestream media, Marxist-run academia, etc) push the view that we actually landed in the moon. Those with critical thinking skills are those who dare to counter or question (be critical of) what they are told to believe. Those who lack critical thinking (and just go along with whatever they are propagandized to believe) are the ones who still believe the "official" stories on all of the important issues.

Yes, yes we do. The earth is NOT a rock spinning and flying through space after it shot out of a big bang explosion.

I know you were making a joke and I get gist, however at that time, the President and most of the DC area were using push button numbers by then. I know this because my grandmother and Uncle lived right out side of DC on New Hampshire Avenue and they had them in their house.

If that's the conclusion you reach in the face of overwhelming evidence and common sense, then there's really nothing more that needs to be said about it. I think there's probably a flat earth thread out there somewhere.

Here is an interview with Glenn Beck. He is talking with Charlie Duke, one of the last remaining astronauts who did walk on the moon and it's from 2023 or so. I have watched it before and I am watching it again. At about the 42 minute mark they get into whether the landing was real or not. Everybody should listen.

Now people are going to believe what they want to believe. That is a great American tradition. I have never heard any astronaut or anybody connected with the Space program from the early 60's, slip up and say something that would lead us to believe it was faked. It's hard to keep a secret among 3 people. How hard would it be to keep this secret among many thousands of people? It could not be done in my opinion.

Duke goes into other things that prove they went. Since he was the CapCom guy when Armstrong and Aldrin first landed, then went himself on Apollo 16, and is a very Christian man to boot, then I think I am going to believe him. I grew up when it was happening and have never at any second thought it was fake. Again believe what you want to believe, but this is right from the horse's mouth so to speak.

There are some commercials and you can fast forward through them.

Nah, it's fine. There was *no way* a moon mission thread on the WC was not going to venture into conspiracy theories! My thought is, if NASA was going to spent $4 billion and millions of person-hours to design, test, build, train, and launch a fake mission, you'd think they'd at least fake a working space toilet, lol.
