Estimates that these will be the costliest fires in U.S. history, with over $200 billion in losses. And possibly the costliest "natural" disaster in U.S. history.

There are actually several residents who saved their homes (in areas annihilated by fires) by simply spraying water on their yards and houses with garden hoses. This proves that the fires could have been controlled and many, if not most homes saved if there was a competent fire department, and the fire hydrants had enough water. But the fire department basically did nothing and many fire hydrants had no water.

There are reports/videos of arsonists being spotted and arrested around the time the fires started and were blazing.

Of course, many people are now speculating and finding evidence that this goes beyond "incompetence" and "negligence", and that this may have been done on purpose and allowed to happen, citing numerous factors -- including reservoirs that served the fire hydrants not having water, cuts in the fire department funding in the months/years before these L.A. fires, evidence that the fire department "stood down". People are talking about plans to make L.A. a "15 minute city", and comparing this fire to the suspicious fire that destroyed the town of Lahaina in Maui in 2023.

Examples of two residents who saved their homes by defying evacuation orders and spraying their homes and yards with garden hoses. And these houses were not in areas that did not have big fires or much damage. These homes were right in the middle of areas that were wiped out.

This clearly demonstrates that these fires could have been contained and many homes saved if the fire hydrants were working properly and had enough water.

This man, Joe Imbriano aka "The Fullerton Informer", is one of the more popular so-called "conspiracy theorists" on YouTube. Some of the things he talks about may seem "out there" to people new to this type of information, but IMO he's extremely "on point" on most things.

He has lived in Fullerton California for many years, which is just a few miles outside of Los Angeles. He believes that these fires were deliberately set and allowed to happen by the "Establishment" aka "powers that be". He released a few videos over the past few days covering the fires on his channel. Here is a video he released today where he covers what he believes to be the the way in which this was done.

He specifically says that "that place could have been saved had everyone stayed at their homes and fought the fires with their garden hoses" (see at 29:00 in video). Instead, Los Angeles issued an evacuation order, and most people left their homes. And then the fire department never showed up to fight the fires.

Well those guys lived, and their houses were "islands" in a sea of houses that were destroyed. They lived with fires raging all around them. I agree with you that it would take a lot of courage to do it. Because most people would think that they would die, from the heat or smoke. However, this demonstrates that this is not the case. Most of what was burning in these neighborhoods was the houses themselves. Not a ton of vegetation. So while the next door neighbor's house might be on fire, if you are standing say 30-40 feet away from that burning house, you will be ok. Also, one or both of these guys actually sprayed down their neighbor's houses with water as well...one of them had a hose that was over 100 ft in length. So, if his neighbor's house was not burning because he hosed it down, then he was further "insulated" from the fires and not in as much danger to being burned and dying from smoke inhalation.

There is an article about a man found dead in his yard with his garden hose still in his hands. I'm happy for the folks that survived and saved their house, but let's not act like there wouldn't have been way more casualties if everyone stayed around to try and fight the fires themselves.

My question is... so let's say you lived in the Palisades, and you saved your home... what in the world is your home worth now, and would you even want to live there?

No schools. No stores. No neighbors. Destruction all around you and no access to any local amenities. It's going to take YEARS before you have any of that stuff built back up, and that's assuming folks/businesses want to invest in that area knowing they're extremely unlikely to get insurance moving forward or even loans from financial institutions to rebuild.

Constant clean-up/construction around your home. Messed up roads, no schools, no hospitals, no stores, no restaurants, etc. Your home is un-insurable and no clue what happens to your property value.
