Random WNC Commentary:
"Live just over the state line in SC, and spent the last two days trying to top off our propane supply prior to the arrival of the expected snow/ice storm Friday. All the big suppliers were out of gas. Tank swaps were still available, but at a higher price. I snuck in at 0730 just after the supply truck filled the retailer again. I was fifth in line. I found out what was going on.
A man pulling a trailer behind me had 36 (yes, I counted them) 20 lb propane tanks along with some 30s and 100lb ones loaded. When I asked, he explained he was delivering them to NC because there was NO PROPANE available anywhere up there, especially in the Bat Cave/Chimney Rock, NC area.
They are still living in tents in these freezing temperatures, ice and snow!
Made me embarrassed for *****ing about spending all week chopping up downed trees on the property. At least we have a roof over our heads and three forms of alternate heat (Wood, propane and kerosene).
Humbled, Prayers sent."

"Running errands around WNC town/county, I still see people in tents. Some have kids, but I would guess around 60% of them are homeless and set their tents in the surrounding woods in order to be close to main intersections, so they can beg for money.
13 degrees this morning, 11 degrees tomorrow morning."

"A lady that lives in TN said that some people still in tents, and refuse to leave for fear of losing their land to the land grabbers."

More WNC Commentary:
Unaffected NC and TN folks have jumped in to help impacted WNC citizens and the state/Fed governments thwart them at every turn.
Tiny home? Nope, can't move in.
Trailer or motorhome? Nope, can't move in.
Rebuild a road to make it passable? Nope, we (the state/Fed) didn't build it so you can't use it.
The list goes on and on."
