Western leaders and their propagandists in the media aren't talking about it much, but everything seems to be going great in Syria.

Regime change got rid of a dictator in Asaad, but the West has installed a terrorist as the new president and his al qaeda spin off terrorist group is slaughtering Christians and other religious minorities as well as men, women and children in cities in and around where Asaad was born.

I guess the CIA and other western intel is okay with slaughtering innocence as long as it's done by jihadists groups and not dictators.

Of course I'm evidently an isolationist and I don't understand the importance of killing innocent people as long as it's not done by a brutal dictator.
It's like you guys aren't even trying to hide anymore that every word out of your mouth is coming from the Kremlin. Lol, "Western leaders and their propagandists"... who the fu** talks like that?

Asaad isn't gone because of the West... Assad is gone because Russia is getting drained dry by the war in Ukraine (or as Trump likes to say, "they hold all the cards") and had to withdraw its protection for the Assad regime, which let the opposition sweep in.

Since then the new Syrian government has been fighting pockets Assad loyalists who are refusing to put down their guns. As far as governments in the Middle East go, they've actually seemed pretty reasonable so far. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c17q9dv5225o

MAGA are the ones who have been fully captured by "up is down" Soviet propaganda, so please spare us your Tulsi Gabbard bullsh**.

Yeah because Tulsi is an Asaad puppet and like Trump loves dictators so she's sad. The CIA and EU intelligence really showed her by ousting Asaad and installing a radical Islamic terrorist group to run the country.

Find me a Bulwark article explaining why the bloodshed in Syria is fine now that it's coming from jihadist and not a dictator.
Very good post. You've done your homework and not bought the ABC/NBC/CBS narrative spoon fed nightly to the #Gobblers of the world. I understand from someone I follow closely that there are efforts underway to rescue as many of these Christians as we can.

The metastatic breast cancer drug developed at Duke was used to treat a very good friend who is like a sister to me that I've known for over 30 years.

Yes, shut down all of the weather forecasting that planes rely on to not fall out of the sky. And then add them all back once you realize what they do.

This is why CEOs are generally terrible at governing. Not the same skillset at all.

Calm down Smapty. The fact that I dislike the leaders of England, Germany and France and hate the media with a fkg passion has nothing to do with the Kremlin.

Good luck continuing to spread democracy in the Middle East. Maybe one of these regime changes won't result in Islamic terrorists killing Christians and other religious minorities in that country. These brutal dictators are terrible but they usually kept these jihadist animals somewhat under control.

It's just a coincidence that you hate all of the same people that the Kremlin hates, have all of the same goals as the Kremlin, mouth their propaganda pretty much unfiltered, and have been conditioned to distrust the 95% of the information ecosystem not pushing their propaganda.

Juuuuuust a coincidence.

I guess Duke will just have to tap into that $11.6 billion endowment of theirs to help keep those Bunsens burning and those centrifuges spinning.

Perhaps that's the way they need to start working. Too much money being spent in the Federal Government. Things have to change…

Yeah, but I bet the Kremlin doesn't love eastern European women as much as I do. Especially Polish women. Some of the hottest women on the planet and that broken English accent is hot as fk.

no, they can't just spend endowment money any way they choose. That endowment is reserved for specific purposes. It's against the law to do that. At any rate $4B in savings is not worth this in my opinion. We're talking what, 10 cents per tax payer? Dumb.

Hokie, create an endowment for the specific purpose of research. Come on man… you need to think differently.

Here's an example of why this won't work.

The V Foundation for Cancer Research has raised over $353 million since its founding in 1993. The foundation's endowment covers administrative expenses, so 100% of direct donations go to cancer research.

$353M is great and goes strictly to research, but that's over a 31 year period. Your idea won't generate the money for research related indirect costs. Who's going to donate to such a thing?

Looks like it depends on the type of endowment (unrestricted vs restricted) but they can be used on R&D according to this.

bulilding maintenance isn't R&D. Replacement of equipment isn't R&D. Building out new labs for specific research isn't R&D. Administrative costs for research isn't R&D. Do you get the point yet?

Let's also remember these rates were NEGOTIATED between the Federal Government and these Universities. This isn't something that's a surprise here. And look, I totally see administrative bloat in some of these departments. But it isn't 51 cents worth.

$4B. I'm fine with paying 10-15 cents of my total tax bill to fund that. You guys aren't. It's short sighted, and cold hearted.

Huh? You said they couldn't use the endowment on research and I was simply showing that you can depending on what type of endowment it is. I forgot though you know it all why am I even trying here.

And you're putting words in my mouth, I never said I was ok with it.
