A Huffington Post headline from last night crows: "Jen Psaki Schools Fox News' Peter Doocy With Facts: 'I Know That Can Be Inconvenient.'" Doocy, the Post reported, had "trie[d] to blame rising gas prices on the Biden administration rather than Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine." But thankfully, "no-nonsense White House press secretary Jen Psaki" schooled him, using "'facts' to shoot down" the reporter's "hectoring questions." As the Huffington Post tells it, Doocy was simply no match for Psaki's awesome power.

Doocy responded by asking why the White House was "asking other countries to think about maybe pumping more oil why not just do it here?" To that, Psaki replied: "Well, just to be very clear, federal policies are not limiting the supplies of oil and gas." When Doocy subsequently interjected by citing numerous examples in which the Biden administration had, in fact, limited oil and gas, Psaki fired back that she was going to "give you the facts here, and I know that can be inconvenient, but I think they're important in this moment."

No facts followed. What did follow, however, was the White House's new line on skyrocketing gas prices: "The suggestion that we are not allowing companies to drill is inaccurate," Psaki said. "The suggestion that that is what is hindering or preventing gas prices to come down is inaccurate." That was echoed by the president himself at a press conference today: "Let me be clear," Biden said. "It's simply not true that my administration or policies are holding back domestic energy production. That's simply not true."

There's just one small problem: It is, in fact, true. "Interior has been slow-rolling oil and gas permits since Mr. Biden took office," the Wall Street Journal editorial board wrote last week. Citing "mounting evidence of anti-consumer behavior by oil-and-gas companies," the White House told the Federal Trade Commission to "bring all of the Commission's tools to bear if you uncover any wrongdoing" in November 2021. Biden's flurry of executive orders during his first months in office included killing the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have transported up to 830,000 barrels of crude oil per day from Canada to the U.S., and halting new oil and natural-gas drilling on public lands and waters. Last month, the administration indefinitely halted all new drilling permits altogether.

The effect of all that has been exactly what you'd expect American energy costs have been steadily climbing. This was already evident last December, as Deroy Murdock noted in the New York Post:
Quote:

In October [2021], US oil drilling had plunged 38 percent versus October 2019, before COVID-19 derailed the booming Trump-GOP economy. With supply down and demand up (as COVID-related instability has eased), regular unleaded gasoline retailed on Oct. 25 for $3.38 per gallon compared with $2.59 on Oct. 28, 2019 up 30.5 percent. On those dates, the New York Mercantile Exchange's price for West Texas Intermediate crude was $83.94 per barrel, versus $56.65 up 48.2 percent. Likewise, natural-gas drilling had slid 28.9 percent while prices were $5.90 per million BTUs vs. $2.45 up 140.8 percent.

I wonder if those who are so offended by "mean tweets" are equally put out by blatant lies uttered by this White House. If the press doesn't harp on this dishonesty, do we just let it slide?

BTW, am I the only one who finds the arrogance, lathered on like frosting on a cake, exuded by this dishonest administration at least as disgusting as the bristling attitude exuded by our most recent occupant of the WH?

Psaki's arrogance bothers me too....but lets be honest -- has any press secretary ever answered questions that might legitimately slam a president's actions as negatively impactful ever been answered in a wholly forthcoming way?

They are up there representing their boss, and aren't going to just acknowledge their actions have backfired, no matter have obvious. At least not on a topic (gas prices) this impactful.
Damage control, etc.
The real arrogance that we should be bothered by --- why aren't other media members in that room grilling her like Doocy does? Like they did the press secretary's under Trump, who were all accosted pretty much every day?

Unfortunately, there becomes a sense of supporting your team instead of viewing political activity based on what is best for the nation. I am guilty of that to a certain extent. I ignored previous personality issues because I believed the greater good was worth it. I just don't see anything good coming from this administration. It is divisive, hateful, dishonest, and arrogant not to mention that it's policies are definitely not good for the long term health of our nation. I don't understand why people are not completely beside themselves over the ugliness coming from this White House. It's not just a slight turn to the left, it's completely wrong on almost every front. What a disaster!

From what I've observed, our political leanings are very similar. The difference is that you're oblivious - for whatever reason - to why things are as they are. These times are not anything remotely to what we've come to know to be typical change in leadership. The 'bad guys' have secured what they perceive to be full control. We're in the very beginnings of the most difficult time in our history.

Turn off the mainstream media is the 1st step. Accept that Lindsay Graham and Mitch McConnell are not bastions of freedom and liberty. We can fix this ****-show but we've got to wake the he$$ up. I toss stuff out there to generate some thinking outside the box....outside the matrix.....maintained by our Corporate operation mockingbird media.

EDIT: Steven Bannon calls it the managed decline of America. It might also be called "controlled demolition"..

There's a difference between a lab that manufactures biological weapons vs a lab that studies the effects that those weapons do.

Remember, Russia interference and Trump collusion in the 2016 election was real. Our former government officials all said it was. All of the media reported it as real. No one, in their right mind would think it was false!

Well, it was false! Your government and the media lied to you!

The far more damning lie IMO was the deliberately pushed notion that Covid-19 was of natural origins, which seems to be a cover story for the fact that US taxpayer dollars were sent to research facilities in an enemy country to accomplish things that are deemed illegal in the US.

I guess my position is that I didn't believe Russian / Trump collusion in 2016, I'm not sure why believing Russian propaganda is something to believe now.

There's a huge difference between a lab that make weapons and a lab that doesnt with respect to the amount of material available for research in that lab. To be clear, as shown in the items I've provided, none of these labs where ever "secret". These labs where indeed once weapons labs, when they were originally built by the Soviet Union. They were used to research ways in which weapons can kill. To believe that the US is doing the very same thing in a foreign country is a ridiculous notion.

I'll address both of your responses.

Yes, we funded research for the Wuhon Facility. I still have questions as to whether this was truly gain of function research, or supporting research on naturally existing viruses in bats. I don't think there has been enough evidence to show the full breath of that research that was funded. If I were to speculate though, I would say that the dominant strain of the virus being the one that is more mild - i.e. the virus doesn't ultimately want to kill it's host leads me to believe that this wasn't gain of function.

I do believe that a lot of people in Washington DC, New York, the Northeast, and the West Coast believe Trump/Russian election collusion. I don't believe that to be the majority of Americans.

Gain of function was without a doubt happening in Wuhon. We funded the lab and we've had plenty of reports showing this. Also, see the Paul/Fauci debates…. Fauci absolutely had to change the meaning of words in order to protect his Hyde.

Those people that believed and/or still believe the collusions story is and have been fed US Propaganda! Actually, during the height of the collusion story, the same propagandist showed polling that the majority of the people did believe the propaganda. So, I'm sorry… we are no cleansed country!

It was tickling triple digits BEFORE this Ukraine debacle so don't even try to blame this on anything other than his policies. Thing is, this shouldn't be a surprise based on the Dems' infatuation with destroying the oil/gas industry. If you voted for Biden, you deserve to be materially harmed by these policies because you voted for them eyes wide open.

Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby JUST LIED TO THE WORLD

US has funded Ukraine Lab Pathogen and Bio Weapon Research since 2005

A publicly-available document (https://www.state.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/05-829-Ukraine-Weapons.pdf) shows a $15MN agreement signed between the US DoD and Ukraine's Health Ministry to support research into biological weapon research in Kiev, Lvov and Odessa.

The US govt provided materials and training for "cooperative biological research, biological threat agent detection and response, and improving biological material protection, control and accountability".

Details were withheld from public disclosure, but "state secrets of Ukraine" were to be shared with the US Defense Dept.

Checkmate. Time to reveal what really went on there for almost two decades?
