What a sh*t show from today's press conferences by the military & Biden. This administration is a total cluster f*ck.

If Milley has one ounce of honor, he will resign his commission today. Dude tried to point the finger at everyone but himself. Same for the Secretary of Defense - all I heard from him was what we couldn't do, nothing about what we were going to do to get our American citizens & the Afghans who stood by us out of harm's way.

Then Biden comes out & spends about 10 minutes on the additional booster & then walks out without taking any questions. Hell, at this point I'd rather have mattress back Harris as POTUS rather than his sorry ass.

What a screwed up mess.

This is a good one....
Unfortunately, when Harris gets impeached and removed, what do we have then?

This is clearly become a presidency that is falling apart and a President who recognizes it. It'll be fascinating to see what happens in. The next few months. Biden is looking like a one and done.

Hopefully the Republicans don't find a way to screw it up. But I'm sure they will
I saw part of his interview w/George Stephenopholous from today....and he came across as an old 80 year old man that doesn't like to be pushed because he's not really capable of answering like he would have in his earlier days -- like most 80 year old men I've ever known. He should not be POTUS.

He's served his country, and whether we like his politics or not, tip your hat to that.

But no 80 YO should be having to make decisions like one about withdrawing from Afghanistan. I mean, I don't want this to sound the wrong way, but I almost felt sorry for him watching him trying to cogently answer GS's questions...which had to be known to be asked. Just as a human. I was picturing my 80 YO dad sitting there and just realizing its not a good thing.
Now, he asked for this (or was pressured into it), so its a bed of his own making....but I can't see him even making it thru 4 years at this point. Which is why it sucks so bad he made the purely for politics VP decision that he did.
He and his family are a pack of grifters going back decades. That said, yes, his VP choice was tragic for all of us but maybe brilliant for him and his circle given that pressure to resign may be mitigated by people who recoil at the very thought of Harris succeeding him. Doubly brilliant if you stop to consider that she succeeding him means control of the Senate is up in the air just when the Senate would have to approve any VP nomination.

We're gonna have to come up with something for Pelosi then....

Actually...that would be a helluva thing if you think about it.

Knowing that the republicans will vote to impeach Harris wouldn't it be funny for congress to vote to impeach Harris with all of the republicans and a few democrats pushing that over the finish line, and then once it gets to the senate Schumer goes all in and has Harris removed. We'd get a president Pelosi....

I've told you this before, but I voted for Trump. If you think I'm lying about it, why would I? Why would I have to hide that?

I've said before that I didn't like voting for Trump (because of what he is), but he was a better option than either HRC or Biden -- and I still believe that. I've never pulled punches on this site, so it would be pretty silly to "try to hide" whom I voted for. But you've never really cared for the truth if it gets in the way of you tilting at windmills, so have at it.

But to answer your direct question -- I still am disappointed at the two options we had for the most important job in the world. But I choose to vote for Trump, and I think we'd be better off today, if he won.

And if he had not created such a divide in the country (enabled by the media, of course) that completely removed any opportunity that people who SHOULD have been voting for him -- like many black people whom had improving job situations -- he would have won the Presidency in 2020,

So question for you --- now that I've once again told you whom I voted for -- a vote that I assume aligns with who you voted for...are you going to ask me this stupid question again?

1. The above, everyone flags your posts, in fact I've never flagged your posts
2. Anyone with a slight disagreement on your opinion on something is a communist/marxist/socialist
3. Anyone who responds to you aside from a few select posters is a leftist/Biden voter

Your schtick is basically trying impersonate Rush Limbaugh / Sean Hannity, but they are actually good at it. You're just annoying because you brow beat everyone except Cary, Storm, and packgrad (edit: forgot cowboy, sorry buddy) over and over and over. Here's another part of your schtick - you complain about people insulting you and calling you names but you're the biggest offender.

How about you just stop being a bully and then a lot of people would be more willing to engage you more. You do provide good informative posts, but they get lost in the insults and mocking and everything else you add to them.

I've made very informative posts, and I'm funnier than you. Those are two of my trophies.

Just don't make the mistake poor dogplasma made a few days ago -- after being called both a communist and UNC fan on this thread for some innocent post (will let you guess by whom), he joked "you can call me a communist, but you've gone to far by calling me a UNC fan".
Funny...something along the lines that many State fans have said -- "I'll pull for the Russians, before I pull for UNC"

99.98% of NC State fans would appreciate this comment for what it was...alas, our intrepid teller of who is, and who is not a communist/marxist, took it to heart, and warned others, in bold, which makes it more true, that poor dogplasma was accepted the fact he was a communist.

Surprised it's not shown up as a signature...and probably would if DP posted here more regularly.
Could have been funny, except its kind of boorish and stupid.

I really could support an amendment on maximum age in congress and the presidency. Probably 70. It's a fact of life you start declining and even the smartest 80 year old was smarter when they were 50. The sweet spot for a president's age is probably 50-60.

As far as Biden goes, he's one big health scare away from Democrats needing to run someone else. They will never do so without his blessing, but you have to think that backups, even outside Harris, are being considered. 2024 could be wild

On one hand, sure, why not - we have a min age but not a max age so there's precedent.

On the other, this should come out in the wash. If a candidate is presumed to be diminished relative to their prime, but brings other things to the table (experience, wisdom, relationships, whatever) that are directly attributable to their seniority all that goes to electability. Do the benefits outweigh the risks? That's what we should ask of every candidate.

There are some occupations (airline pilot, doctor) that come to mind as being occupations where I like seeing gray hair.

I've said all along Biden was/is a very underwhelming presidential candidate/President; just like with Hillary/Trump in 2016, you ain't making chicken salad out of Trump/Biden when your ingredients are...not tasty.

We can't legislate out all bad candidates, we have to cultivate enough good ones (ranked choice/term limits/campaign finance reform, etc.) that we're not choosing between two average or worse candidates to run this country like we have had to in the last two elections.

I 2nd your proposed amendment.
Thirded. We have minimum restrictions, only logical to have something on the other end of the spectrum.

To amplify on my earlier post a little, just last night had an awesome conversation with my elderly 83 YO next door neighbor's much OLDER brother in law who's in town from Arizona. He's a 97 year old WWII vet MD that got his MD on the GI bill, taught endocrinology at multiple research hospital universities, is still very active in medicine and academia, still drives well (he was getting back in his rental car when I stopped him and his younger brother for what became a half-hour chat), still travels widely, still looks like a dude walking around, etc.

His 93 YO "little" brother, who is also cool as hell and very active, is my next door neighbor's longtime partner. That dude (younger brother) is a longtime Mensa member that lost an eye from shrapnel in the Battle of the Bulge and went on to a very successful career and still travels and speaks at WWII events.

The 97 YO older brother told a funny story last night about lamenting that work he'd proposed years ago for an academic grant not progressing since no other scientists or doctors had picked up that ball and run with it after he got turned down, he said to a large extent because of his unusual age in the field. The work would have taken him a couple of years. That was 17 years ago.

Both of them are cool as hell and sharp as ***** At 93 and 97.

I'm not saying they should be president but their raw acumen, professional competency, experience, and sharpness are still clearly superior to most everyone else walking around in this country including Trump or Biden and they're 13 and 17 years older than they are.

I'm just saying I don't think age should necessarily be automatically disqualifying.

The problem is that Biden and Trump were average or worse candidates even in the prime of their lives. And however bad they were then, they certainly didn't get better with age.

Jesus please God give us some strong candidates to choose from in three years.

How could they run Harris? She's as much on a milk carton as the president. They have to have someone else in the works.
A certain (wealthy) segment of the party loves her and seems to completely disregard all the polling that says everyone else just don't like her. She's considered the favorite for 28 (or 24). Someone will challenge her though and she may flop again
Yeah. I don't see it. There is no way either person from this administration gets another term at the rate they're going.
Depends on how tight election law changes stick. Looking from the cheap seats, Rule of law has broken down and we have an oligarchic dictatorship.

I'm anxious to see if you and your lefty cohorts are going to come out and say you are proud of your vote. I mean... at least he doesn't tweet right?

Enjoy what you and your vote has done to this country.

I am. And before you call me a lefty/socialist/communist I've been eligible to vote since 1978. I've voted for:

Reagan
Bush one an two
Jim Martin
Jesse helms
Donnie Harrison
John east
Thom tillis
Richard burr

I'm not a Democrat or republican, I'm an American. I don't or never will vote party. If the gop would put a legitimate candidate out I'd consider voting for them

He did win the Presidency!!! Details forthcoming...
LOL, I hope its a lot more detailed than the whine-fest videos you sent me to the other day.
and you complain about BBW...
Not sure how my specific complaint about a video is even related. First, I was very specific in what i found wrong with your video. Second, whine-fest is a statement about the video, not you. And if you listen to it, I'm not sure how you could describe it as anything other than an anger-filled rant and whine.

Chem, I find you to fully unqualified to comment on anything and/or anybody. If you find those guys (who worked in the Whitehouse giving great advice) as a whine fest and compare it to what goes on here, well...

As I have stated, and you refuse to do, watch more of the programming so you can get a general context of the thinking they have. It's been clear, so far, you are entirely too lazy to do that... Whatever...
