Extremely concerning. We are going down the dangerous road to full-blown communist tyranny -- like a Soviet KGB for America, where people are outright persecuted and imprisoned just for their political beliefs.cowboypack02 said:

The whole witch hunt with Thomas' wife and Thomas not recusing himself is ridiculous and highly political. Supreme Court Justices do not need to recuse themselves over political beliefs. I hope they try to impeach him.cowboypack02 said:

Every judge that is being nominated is being nominated on political grounds across the board. Both parties do it so not a criticism.
I am a firm believer that every judge when making a ruling should have to be able to back up their stance by written law. When you release your ruling the exact law that was utilized should be referenced.
Prime example is the latest back and forth about the redistricting maps here in NC. The democrat judges ruled that the maps were illegal because they were partisan and then pulled in a special master to have the maps redone. Partisan maps are not illegal, and the state constitution says that the legislature gets to draw the maps, not a special master assigned by a partisan court. The judges should have to be able to justify their ruling by laws that have been passed by a legislature, not just decide that they don't like something and go from there..
Correct. Look at what places like NY, IL, and CA have done in terms of redistricting as opposed to what has happened in places like NC.caryking said:cowboypack02 said:This is what I struggle with the entire way around.hokiewolf said:The whole witch hunt with Thomas' wife and Thomas not recusing himself is ridiculous and highly political. The real problem is the weakness of Republicans! Look at the extreme liberal states…. They are jamming through major changes to the districts. Personally, in the partisan way the country is, I'm ok with what the Dems are doing. I'm just not ok with the Pubs folding like a cheap suit.

Well, now that the usual suspects, Tillis, Berger, and Moore are coming out full blast for Cawthorn's primary opponent, I think we can readily make that call. Agree that Supreme Court judges should never recuse simply over their political beliefs. That would be dumb, they'd be sitting out cases left and right.
However, Ginni Thomas wasn't hammering Mark Meadows about abortion rights or gun control.
Attempting to overturn a free and fair election isn't a political issue. That's a democracy issue, and it's why this issue is sticky for Clarence. The optics are bad.
But at the end of the day, Ginni Thomas ain't on the Supreme Court. Clarence is. Ginni is clearly not impartial about topics relating to the "the greatest Heist of our History" or whatever comical name she gave the 2020 election in her texts.
I haven't seen any evidence that Clarence's impartiality should reasonably be questioned. Being married to a loon is unfortunate for him, but it doesn't rise to the standard of recusal, let alone impeachment.

Respectfully Cary, what she "witnessed" was Trump taking an 'L' because he's an asshat, and she simply couldn't square that with her misguided belief that Trump's rabid followers would win the day.
There has been more than enough time for anyone who actually witnessed anything untoward to come forward and have their claims explored.
People that buy into 2020 election fraud don't ever produce anything concrete. There's nothing quantitative. It's all feelings and emotion and completely dubious claims that are untethered from reality.
They see the rabid Trump support and that Biden is a bad President and they simply can't figure out how Trump got beat by an empty suit. They completely ignore how polarizing he was, and discount how many people wanted him out of office by November 2020.

You'd have to imagine pretty hard.
There's only been one liberal black Supreme Court justice out of the 116 justices we've had.
108 of 116 justices have been white men.
But please, tell us more about unfair double-standards and the long history of victimizing conservative white male politicians in this country.
Speaking of Stormy, well… she has to pay Trump for something (roughly 500K). What's that all about?Packchem91 said:Steve Videtich said:TheStorm said:
