No offense to you but the "when the country is lost" line has been used for 100 years now. It's used about as much as the "get right with Jesus, the world is about to end" line. The country wasn't lost when Trump was elected and it won't be lost when Biden is elected. In 50 years, that line will still be being used and people will still not actually focus on who runs the country, the house and Senate. Want to actually make a difference? Start a grassroots effort to term limit the house and Senate. Then things may actually change and "the country won't be lost."
Well with that kind of attitude you will get the government you deserve. I have no problems with term limits, but the people in power will never accept them because it neuters them. You just have no idea how close we are to losing the country. I didn't vote for Trump in 2016, but I could never vote for that witch either. If she was President now, we would be toast. I will vote for Trump because he is fighting. The Deep state is doing everything they can to keep stuff from coming out. Hopefully enough people will do your research.

Damn man. This has really got you tied in a knot I see. Literally tried to have a discussion with you, even pointed out nothing is directed at you and you still get all tied in a knot. Not sure your age but in 30 years, come back and give me the "country is gonna be lost line again." We can have that discussion then as well as we tried to have it now.
Your damn right it's got me worried. I doubt seriously I will be here in 30 years. 1968 was bad, but it wasn't like this. Sorry but you are missing all the signs. These people want to destroy the Constitution of the United States. Once that is gone, then America as we know it is gone.

Do you like all the anarchy in the streets? Do you like these lockdowns? Do you think Confederate and other statues should be torn down? Is it alright for Antifa to attack a Federal Building? We will have to agree to disagree. My father and father in law both served in three wars. Two before either my wife or I were born. They fought for liberty and freedom. They did not fight for political correctness or for "white privilege or for this cancel culture where you have to agree with the mob or they destroy you. I will do my best not to let freedom die on my watch. You do what you have to do.

I'm sure many would be saying the same thing if Trump was a Democrat. Funny how that works that the end of the country is always lock step with what political party someone doesn't like. I didn't vote for Trump and I won't vote for Biden
Dude, you have no effing idea what you are talking about. When the Columbus statues come down ( an insult to Italian Americans), we're all effed. I was never a gun guy, but am considering my 2nd amendment rights.

Doesn't mean you or I have no effing clue what we are talking about. Btw, welcome to the 2nd amendment world. Been a member since I was old enough to buy a gun.

Even threw a small amount of money to Trumps campaign when he released the list of SCOTUS nominees.
I hope he is re-elected, and probably make 4 more nominations.

And..... Soros should be prosecuted under the RICO statute.

Meanwhile Trump is the one snatching people off the street
I did not have time to debunk this total lie but I will now.

Here is a link to Acting Department of Homeland Security Chad Wolf's press conference from Tuesday. He explains what happened in the video being circulated and how they have proper authority to do so. The perpetrator was released within 15 minutes and he explains what they can do when people are attacking Federal property. He also talks about 3 officers who may be permanently blinded from lasers pointed in their eyes while the mob was attacking the building. Just a little collateral damage I guess.

Here an interview and story from yesterday with Acting Deputy Director of Homeland Security Ken Cuchinelli, who used to be the Attorney General of Virginia. He goes through the Constitutional process of what happened with Glenn Beck. Scroll down to get the video.

https://www.theblaze.com/glenn-radio/federal-agents-kidnap-protesters-in-portland?rebelltitem=1#rebelltitem1

It's obvious where you get your talking points and those talking points are all lies. Just the facts.

Lol. You have no idea where I get my "talking points" as you call them. You don't know my politics or my media consumption.
At the end of the day you have Federal officials intervening in local policing against the express wishes of both state and local government. The administration's argument that they are just protecting federal property is not supported by picking people off the street away from federal property or by harassing journalists attempting to cover protests.
That is not the Federalism supported by small government conservatives. But Trump is not a small government conservative and never has been. If you want to want to bootlick and try to justify an authoritarian, be my guest, but Trump Republicans should stop saying they're the party of small government

Not a Trump fan at all, but from a contrarian view, what is your response to this:

The gov't is here to provide safety and security.

If the local gov't isn't going to step up and do their job....is the federal gov't just supposed to sit back and let it burn?

The gov't in Seattle is literally refusing to do their job. I don't care who the President is at any given time...is he just supposed to sit back and watch and say "oh well, you folks elected those idiots, you're reaping what you sow"?

And dems are the party of rioting, looting, chaos, and domestic terrorism. I live on the west coast and this **** is a scene out of some sci-fi horror flick. Federal/State building torn up and graffitied, statutes ripped down, police stations attacked nightly, and fires everywhere. Media isn't showing people how bad this crap has gotten. Left or right this shouldn't be tolerated.

Pretty much. If state a local government both tell the Feds that their help is unwanted then outside extraordinary circumstances (like secession or gross violation of the constitution) the Feds should stay out. Id have more sympathy if it seemed like residents of these cities were calling for national help but if anything it seems like the opposite.

Right wing media is exaggerating the violence. Left wing media is downplaying it. But if things are as bad as some on this thread say, and state and local Democrats are "doing nothing", then the people will turn on them. Actually the best thing for Republicans politically would be to just let it burn and point a finger saying "this is what happen when you give the left full control." Instead you've opened Republicans to charges of hypocrosy

What are you smoking? Lol. State and local govts are complicit in this. If the rioting was by right wing folks and the destruction was allowed by a rep governor and mayors would you want the feds to step into protect regardless. If you think this isn't as bad as its being publicized then go to one of these places. You go to downtown Denver and 90% of all retail stores are boarded up. The capital building is graffitied and statues torn down. The aurora police dept last night was raised and set on fire. Rioters blocked the highways and people got hurt/killed last night. All on the watch of a dem mayor and governor who refuse to get help. By bending the knee to these people they've only gotten worse and been emboldened. Not sure why anyone with a brain can defend this type of domestic terrorism regardless of politics. I live in one of these places and it's scary how bad the inner cities have become.

The democratic party is no longer just one of 2 major political parties in the US that have a different take on policy and ideas. No that's been gone for a very long time. This is not your fathers democratic party and definitely not your grandfathers.

This party has been taken over by marxist ideologues who hate America. And it's not like some out there theory... a lot of them are telling you that if you're listening. The agenda they've stated along with what the house has tried to do the last 2 years.... I mean c'mon. I know there's a certain group of people who are for that... their base and who want this transformation to happen. Then there are a lot of democrats and independents out there that just don't believe that and believe democrats are just another American political party. I'm sorry to say that everyone needs to open their eyes.

And to those of you who agree with me isn't it weird how once you see the left for what it is you can't unsee it?

If Joe Biden gets elected and god forbid they have control of house and senate then you are going to see radical rule changes and re shaping of government the likes you never thought. The plan is not to govern traditionally and work with republicans. The plan is one party authoritarian rule. They want to snuff opposition out for good through making the rules work for them at the ballot box, to cancelling voices in the media and on the internet, to breaking down traditional institutions that would be contrary to their ideology.

Newsflash, if the Democrats take all 3 offices they are going to bicker amongst themselves and get nothing done, just like Republicans in 2016. If Trump is defeated they will immediately turn on each other over issues like Medicare for all. Biden will spend most of his first term trying to undo Trump rules and he likely won't get a second.

Take a breath, life is going to go on either way. Call me a useful idiot all you want, I'm going to sit here and laugh at Republicans and Democrats freaking out over each other while ignoring their own hypocrosy

Let's put it this way, the average run of the mill middle/upper middle class suburban Democrat (not a flaming lefty), as well as independents and moderate Republicans, who just want Rump out of office because they hate him, will feel like they were duped if Biden wins. The hatred for the Orange one is clouding their judgement. They think they will be getting 90's Clinton or 10's Obama. That ain't happening this time.

Democrat politicians have been talking about what they plan. It's not some conspiracy theory made up out of nowhere. Hell the house has been trying for 2 years now to pass bills with some of the far left wishlist in it but it's DOA at the senate. I've heard pols say that they want to give DC statehood, eliminate the electoral college, eliminate the filibuster in the senate, change the supreme court, and allow 20 million illegal immigrants amnesty. Those are extremely radical ideas that all but ensure one party rule. The mail in balloting being pushed this cycle is really bad too... it's going to erode trust in free and fair elections.

" ... eliminate the filibuster in the senate, ..."
I am not in favor of eliminating the filibuster, but I feel the rules need to be changed.

It takes one Senator to threaten a filibuster to cause the Senate to need a cloture vote to end the threat. The rules need to be changed to remove the threat, and require the Senator(s) to actually stand before the Senate and hold the floor, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

No problem with the filibuster.

Biggest problem IMO there is, is term limits.

That needs to be reality ASAP.

Nobody should be able to make a 20-30+ year career in Washington.

Serve a couple of terms, and you're done....go back to whatever it is you do and get the hell out of DC.

Term limits, and a permanent ban on ever being a lobbyist.

I agree with you both packfan and bigeric. Washington is no doubt a sick place. It would be wonderful if house and senate had term limits. There would still be those insider deals, interests, corruption, etc. but it would not be near as rampant b/c people couldn't make a career out of it like you said. The problem is the only thing I've seen out there that could potentially force that issue is a convention of states. But there are not enough states on board to call for it.
