Alex Sogard is Head coach at Wright State, he was a pitcher at Oregon State from 2006-2007, then transferred to NC State and pitched from 2008-1010. He played for Coach Avent. His Wright State teams have been good under him especially in their conference….

He would be a great hire in my mind as a pitching coach…. If you decide to move on from Coach Chrysler….
I have only seen tweets tonight mentioning him, have no other knowledge.

Hart promoted with Sogard backfilling his role as First Lieutenant sounds pretty close to ideal to me

This isnt basketball or football. Give these guys a fair shot, if it doesnt work out it doesnt work out. But we dont lose out on much trying this imo

I for one, hope we keep Hart and bring on Sogard as the pitching coach. A friend of mine and previous player didn't have much nice to say about Chrysler, so I'd love to see that change.

NC State has had a very successful program for the last 20 years. Hart is a HUGE reason for that. He pretty much runs things day to day. There's no reason not to at least let him try and see if he can handle the other parts of the program now.

If it doesn't work, there are going to be lots of great options available. That's no guarantee, though. South Carolina probably wishes they'd kept Holbrook at this point.

Chad is a great dude and a very good teacher of ball. I learned a lot from him working unc camps back in the day.



Hart took over 'crootin in 2010 (IIRC) and started bringing in dudes year in and year out pretty much immediately.

This is exactly what I was talking about. SC moved Holbrook into lead role and they won 40+ games 3 out of his 5 years, went to the NCAA 3 out of his 5 years and won 30+ games in the other two years. They fired him after that 2017 season and have been at or below.500 four times in the 9 years since. And only over .500 in SEC play 3 times in those 9 years.

Sometimes the guy that helped build it is a better option than the shiny new toy.

You shouldn't make personnel decisions that are based on bad hiring. Yes you can wreck your program if you hire a moron. How about do a good job with your hiring process and don't hire a moron. You have to do a bad job of hiring for SC to suck at baseball. The state of SC has good talent and there is just Clemson and SC at the high major level competing for in state guys and both of those programs are beloved in that state.
