I believe there is room for improvement, specifically I'd like to see more effort put into the NIL side of things. But yeah, the consistency has been very impressive, and IMO gets taken for granted. We could improve with a change, we could also fall off a cliff. If he is ready to walk away, he deserves his flowers,, but if he wants to stay, he's earned that too. Does he have a problem getting along with his bosses? Probably. My business partner is his age, and he's set in his ways and difficult, it's the reward for getting old. Whenever the time is, I just hope he's given the appreciation he deserves.

Serious question: Do you think we kept Dudan, RM, Head, McHugh, Nance for cheap? I don't and in today's landscape that is really good retention.

I'd imagine Marhon, Nance, Dudan and Head could have probably named a number they wanted if they really wanted to be somewhere else.

Outside of Tommy White and Alex Sosa we haven't had an issue retaining or finding talent.

I won't say no to more NIL but I don't think it's some crazy factor with us landing talent.

I really don't know how we get or keep guys outside of the relationships built,I just know what's been said by Steve and the NIL folks. And I'm not really surprised it's something EA doesn't want to do, given his age and tenure I don't necessarily blame him. IMO it would be good for the future of the program to embrace it more, and I say that as someone who's NIL contributions are mainly to baseball. I have supreme faith that Hart et al can find guys regardless, but maybe you could get that one extra arm or power bat that could really turn things. It's a very minor critique.

Right.

You have a 6'3 center fielder that is a legit 5 tool prospect and a pitcher that sits 98 with a wipeout slider, I'm sure those kind of guys are not highly coveted and wouldn't command any NIL.

In all seriousness State has done a tremendous job retaining and identifying talent in what I assume is an extremely large part due to Hart, Chrysler, and Bo Rob. Let's keep these guys as long as we can.

The NIL issue (IMO) isn't money for retention it's money to bring in guys to fill some spots, like a closer. Maybe a better Sunday starter than Andrews who would be perfect for the midweek spot.

Our arms from the portal were young developmental types or a kid like Heintz that was a total dart throw and probably a free local kid.

I dunno, having a fundraiser with guys like Turner, Bailey, Rodon, etc coming in to attend along with raffles, autograph opportunities just might raise enough funds for a legit closer and a another legit arm and/or bat. Hell, maybe enough funds for a top 100-200 stud HS arm that we could entice to hit college instead.

We presently do nothing and that ain't gonna cut it.

I also like the idea of keeping Hart because it keeps the relationship with Turner, Rodon, Bailey that a new coach might now have.

Chris Hart is a great evaluator of talent. He also is a very respected teacher of the game. I also think if he gets the job that there is continuity in this staff with Hart, BoRob, Chrysler, and JT. I fully expect JT to be a P4 Head Coach one day. And that means probably leaving here for a mid major job and proving himself at some point. Would love to see him back here one day if he takes that path and wants to come back.

I've always kind of waffled back and forth on Chrysler - not because of the stuff our guys have - but moreso creating real depth in the bullpen, and how we manage it. Chrysler has done wonders with a lot of guys - then others we just cant get to throw strikes - I dont know if that is talent identification or coaching or a combination of the two. I can't imagine Hart moving on from Chrysler if given the reigns. And again, I'm not saying thats what we need to do - I really dont know.

I do know of several guys that stayed in this program could have gotten more money elsewhere. I don't know how much more or what our guys are getting but I've heard of guys that were offered more money staying - and a lot of that is due to our staff and their belief in their development. And that speaks volumes.

I did want to add as I've mentioned before, that I hope if it is Hart - that he embraces all avenues of NIL fundraising. And that's not because we haven't acquired good talent or kept good talent - but because 1 or 2 extra guys can make all the difference. An electric bullpen arm and a 18 HR guy can add 3-4 wins or more over the course of a season.

Is that Chrysler or Avent? From my naked eye, the pitching management has stayed the same across multiple pitching coaches.

I'm afraid Andrews was a lock no matter what. They claimed he could have went in the draft last year. I made that argument last summer, he wasnt coming back to be a middle reliever. Feel like that was a gentleman's agreement kind of deal.

Honestly, probably the same for Dudan.
