I'm all for the conference starting earlier, because I'm not holding my breath on the NCAA doing something smart like pushing their tournament back, even though there's absolutely no reason they couldn't do that. The current setup with a short rest series to end the year, then the long conference tournament going straight into the NCAA a few days later is just wrong however you slice it.

I agree. Not sure why you can't take a weekend off, and give the kids 7-10 days of a well deserved break. Gives the regional hosts time to prepare and make the most out of their hosting opportunity, but more than anything, it's as much as a safety mechanism you could build in to help pitchers.

FWIW its 5 in 6 days for the bottom 8 teams to win it all. Thursday/Friday (Quarterfinals) function as a day off in the middle for the bottom seeds that advance and switches the format to 2 games a day Thursday through Saturday. So you never play more than 3 days consecutively. Still hard of course.

Its already so hot in Omaha as it is, imagine if you pushed the CWS 7-10 days further into the summer?

Irrelevant IMO. Possible 1-2 degree difference versus protecting a bunch of elite and overused arms.

in other hilarious and useless news, our game against Vandy in the CWS, it was actually chilly that night and I wished I had worn sleeves. The game against Stanford a couple days earlier was pretty dang hot but not unbearable.

NC State will start RHP Heath Andrews against Duke to open the ACC Tournament.

He allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts across 6.2 innings in an 18-5 win over the Blue Devils on April 11.

I'm getting old so maybe it was and I just don't remember being miserable. I'm not built for the heat.

I was sitting right behind home plate in the sun. I do remember that.

ST. LOUIS (AP) St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol believes in the "no shirt, no problem" mantra.
His club was boosted to a win over the Royals Friday night and again on Saturday by a group of college players in the right-field seats who took off and waved their shirts as they sang, chanted and drew others into the fray.
Marmol loved it so much that he bought tickets for shirtless revelers this weekend.
"Last night's atmosphere was electric. Let's run it back this weekend," Marmol said in a social media post. "I'll buy tickets for fans who want to sit in the right field Loge and bring the energy."
It all began when the Stephen F. Austin club baseball team, known as the Lumberjacks, was in nearby Alton, Illinois, for the National Club Baseball Division II World Series. The Cardinals offered tickets to the team, and 17 players attended.

State ran Lemke out of the stadium earlier, so he will likely throw a perfect game lol.

Andrews has been efficient but with 2 outs and 2 strikes, cannot throw a meatball there.

Can't walk the 9 hole hitter with 2 outs. This could haunt.
