Maybe not in a 10-6 game where we have shown a pulse. What do you have to lose with the way we were hitting? Dude hasn't faced any pressure all night. I'm trying to force the issue there. It's not like State has a history of turning it on late when we start games like this.

State had a runner on second with no outs in the top of the first and it was all downhill from there.

You have to win the next two. The only path I see is Coop to Nance for 9 innings. Then Hemric- Garino- and who knows after that.

I know Renfrow is good but the lack of quality at bats from this lineup is embarrassing. I would have never expected this type of offense before the season. SMH

I mean obviously you can't bench him just for the potential to hit. Also who are we going to put there Bargo or Novy? They aren't looking any better.

I may be way off but here is what it looks like

Beginning of last year McHugh goes on a tear, teams realize you need to bust him in, you start seeing him get HBP on fastball in on the wrist (I think it was like 3 times in 5 games). Fast forward to this year non conference teams don't realize this or lack the pitching to execute FB on the inner 3rd so McHugh feasts.

Conference play comes around scouting report is out on how to pitch him, hard in soft away. So McHugh being an intelligence player going into a draft year needing more power, starts hunting FB on the middle to outer 3rd, pitches he can get those long arms extended on and do damage. So opppsing pitchers counter with offspeed away.

Look how many times you have seen McHugh take a *** swing on a breaking ball that starts half a ball off the plate and breaks away from him. He's clearly hunting fastball there.

Maybe the timeline isn't perfect or maybe I'm way off and it's simply he doesn't see fastball in very well which leads to him getting hit on the hands so much. Or maybe he's just really unlucky. But I have legit never seen one player get hit on the hands so much.

Really tough to sit McHugh

McHugh is one of the few players that affect how others are pitched to. McHugh, Head, Mickey, Rhett, and Fraas are the 5 that have to stay. I hate platooning at catcher but we are such a poor hitting team, you have to lean on hitting match ups and risk some defensive catching experience.

We are in a tough spot

I would start platooning other based on match ups

McHugh is beyond lost. Tough to watch.
