These type of games happen to literally every team in the country. You win 2/3 and at the end of the year you don't even remember they happened.


When they are deciding who gets to host, this type of loss will stick out like a sore thumb. Will give them all the reasoning they need to let some middle of the pack SEC team host instead.

This isn't like dropping a game to Furman or UNCW, this is legit a terrible program.

No it won't. Arkansas lost last Friday to UT Arlington. Guess they can't host either

Yes I agree but this still negatively impacts our rpi, which is of bigger concern rather than the play on the field. Marohn had to of broken team rules to not play today.

Not the same thing. UT Arlington is literally ranked over 100 spots higher than Lafayette in RPI.

Go look at 2025 RPI quad 4 games. The top 5 RPI teams had a combined 7 quad 4 losses.

Losing a game like this does not keep you from hosting a regional or heck even a super regional

This could quite possibly be the worst baseball game I've seen State play in over a decade......this guy just hit only his second hit of the year, and both have been 2 HRs off our vaunted pitching staff

You obviously don't know baseball then, William and Mary swept this team last weekend, the guy who has absolutely SMASHED two HRs today was 0-17 entering today's game with over a 50% strikeout rate..... season not over by any means, but take the red shades off for a minute

Re read my post, I said I don't agree the season is over but this is definitely a nobody we are playing this weekend, so if they come back and say we haven't played anyone, that would continue to hold playing this team

So did the starting pitcher for coastal and the team Wednesday.

Look as soon as Lafayette took out their starter they brought in a guy throwing 92 and state could hit again.

Pulled him brought in a junk ball pitcher. Next two guys make outs.
