i said this last year a bunch and nothing changed, so i doubt it does this year, but already feels like a kind of big start for Andrews. He has to be much sharper than he was today

I think it's questionable whether we see Andrews on Sunday. 65 pitches on Wednesday is cutting it close.

Yeah but they come back a week later and not 4 days later.

Are any of you guys "connected" hearing any adjustments in the schedule/start times? Weather looks iffy…. I am planning to be there, hoping the rain doesn't ruin the wkend?!

Had a feeling with Andrews starting the midweek we may see the LRL for the weekend. Cooper had an all-star summer in the cape and a good fall. Think he's ready for a return to freshman year form.

Sunday looks like the worst day. Friday and Saturday aren't complete wash outs.

Looks like the rain will be moved out before 3:00 today so we should at least be good for Game 1.

Yeah figured Andrews wouldn't be in the rotation after 65 on Wednesday. Was hoping we might see Nance but seems they just don't want him in the rotation. To me that could be a really stout rotation if you added Nance into it.

Looked pretty sharp last weekend in PR. Plus our starting pitcher must like them since he picks the combo.

Well they need to step up. Kitchings is one option. But EA isn't going to just move Nance into a weekend rotation without someone that he trust in the closer role

Do we not need to trust the Sunday starter or just the closer?

Nance is in the right spot. If there's any program's fanbase in the country that should see the value in bullpen arms, then it should be NC State. State's "closer" has almost always thrown a similar number of innings as the 3rd starter.

FSU is the best example of why you need a bullpen. 3 starters have been really good over the past 2 years, but they've lost a ton of games from the 6th inning onwards.

Nance is still going to get a ton of innings - being able to choose the spot into which he's used is invaluable in locking down wins.

A good bullpen arm/closer is more valuable than a 3rd starter.

Yeah, in a sport with no game clock, you have to be able to close out the game to win. Our most recent two Omaha runs where made possible in part by having excellent lock down guy(s) in the pen. If you don't have that, you better be putting up 10,12 runs a game every night.
Some posters like to keep it real. Real dumb.

How many did Dudan throw last year. Your comment is as if you are the authority here. There is certainly room for debate on this topic. You can't throw away 25% if your games so you have a closer who you ma my or may not need all weekend. Not to mention Anderson Namce has starter stuff more so than anyone on the staff not named Marohn.

We can agree to disagree. We will see if Nance is used as a closer even. So far we have used him once per weekend in long relief. Just as we did Wednesday.

First off, can't even believe I'm responding to you at this point.

Nance & Shaffner were 1a/1b as State's best guys out of the bullpen last year and threw 54 & 37 respectively. Shaffner with more bounce back & Nance with more length.

2 years ago it was Dudan throwing 38, but you also had SVD throw 37 in an abbreviated season + Coop throwing 42

You can keep going. Lawson & Fritton, Villaman & Lawson, Justice & Villaman

I'd say this year it will probably be Nance and Hemrick as the two names we talk about eat a ton of innings in big relief spots.

But numbers aren't real. And neither are results.
