Nance is in the right spot. If there's any program's fanbase in the country that should see the value in bullpen arms, then it should be NC State. State's "closer" has almost always thrown a similar number of innings as the 3rd starter.
FSU is the best example of why you need a bullpen. 3 starters have been really good over the past 2 years, but they've lost a ton of games from the 6th inning onwards.
Nance is still going to get a ton of innings - being able to choose the spot into which he's used is invaluable in locking down wins.
How many did Dudan throw last year. Your comment is as if you are the authority here. There is certainly room for debate on this topic.
First off, can't even believe I'm responding to you at this point.
Nance & Shaffner were 1a/1b as State's best guys out of the bullpen last year and threw 54 & 37 respectively. Shaffner with more bounce back & Nance with more length.
2 years ago it was Dudan throwing 38, but you also had SVD throw 37 in an abbreviated season + Coop throwing 42
You can keep going. Lawson & Fritton, Villaman & Lawson, Justice & Villaman
I'd say this year it will probably be Nance and Hemrick as the two names we talk about eat a ton of innings in big relief spots.
But numbers aren't real. And neither are results.
