Get thru 6 with Dudan and Schaffner and see where you're at?

After many conversations I'm settling on thinking Dudan will start Sunday

I like Dudan starting. If he can get you 3-5 innings. Fill in with everyone else.

It makes everything around this make a lot of sense. 40 pitches on Tuesday as his bullpen day. Nance as the setup for Shaffner tonight when Dudan got the ball in an identical spot almost last weekend

In the post game Avent said Dom was the best he's ever seen him. I think he's probably right. Shame he didn't get the win but he had the best command of the off speed pitches tonight I can remember. It's amazing the growth he's had in the off speed stuff. His first 2 years he was a 90% fastball guy. Now he's getting so many more ground balls by keeping his pitches down instead of trying to get everyone with high fastballs and giving up so many fly balls. Spit a few really nice split/changes out there to get some rightys too. That pitch takes him to another level. Now he has multiple out pitches to both sides of the plate.

Great win and comeback. Great to beat unc at their home stadium. Take that to graduation tomorrow. Enjoy the next 48 hours, Pack fans. Avoided the sweep, put ourselves in position to win the series, kept our chances to host alive.

Yea I think Sunday determines if we host. UVA and VT hasn't helped us

Kepley looks like a Roblox character (if you have kids, you know what I'm talking about). He was on base all night. Want to see the Dude start off Sunday with a 3 pitch strikeout and make him look even sillier than he already does. Where is his neck???? The world may never know.

Just got back from holeville great win for the packing lovely night. The double play to end it happened right in front of us.

Made lots of bad plays but guttted it out for the win. When they hit those homers I was ok here we go, but we pulled through.

Hell of a game. Dom was awesome tonight and got left in for 1 too many innings. I understand why but with a day of rest no reason for it. Nance had a (imo) very predictable "off" outing after missing a weekend and being unhittable for 4 appearances. That's sort of baseball…

Great response after they tied it back up. Personal note but glad UNC made a pitching change to start the 8th as if they had stayed with Boaz not sure it would have played out as well. Very biased there with personal connection and glad it worked out for us. He looked as good as I've seen him tonight since surgery last season. They have an absolute ton of good arms but the UNC pitching decisions (going back to last season) continue to leave me a little confused in big games. Almost have too many guys and don't allow anyone to get a rhythm or find enough innings for confidence or roles…

Love what we have left going into Sunday, good start from Andrews and you have 2-4 innings of Dudan. 1 from Schaffner for sure and then Cooper/Kelley/Potts as needed for an inning each if needed. Need to drive in the runs and make it easy!

I still can't figure out the DeCaro thing for UNC. Has been on an absolute heater in conference play yet they toss him out against Campbell on Tuesday for 70 pitches.

Don't necessarily disagree with the thought process here but I'd be absolutely floored if that happened. Don't like it at all personally with how e have played it all year with the number of arms we have left for Sunday. But I'm like Ethan and think we have done a crap job of getting innings for people that maybe have. Higher floor and should have got deeper looks last month. Zero reason to not just roll Andrews out with a super quick hook if needed. Just my two cents

30 from Nance. 11 from Shaffner. I don't think you can count out anything for Sunday.

But like I said a minute ago, just gonna sit back and enjoy it lol

Yep. Both should be available to go along with Dudan and Andrews. Sunday sets up well for us.

Figured Boaz was your boy. I thought he was still out this year since he was their Friday guy last year.

Luckily we can always thank Gosnell for a particular game....

Agree. I think Sunday also sets up well for UNC.

I thought last night favored us. With the Dom on the mound and a fully rested pen. Haugh is good don't get me wrong. But I think is their 3rd best starter and his last couple of outings have been not ideal.

I think Sunday is a true 50/50 game.

Kmcpack
How long do you want to ignore this user?
There's a little more separation between us and Miami and GT now so worst case we should be able to stay in the top 4 of acc. And with FSU losing today we have a legit shot at #1 with a win or rainout tomorrow.

For conference purposes, no. But a win would probably solidify a hosting spot barring a meltdown against Stanford, who is sneaky

I think…if we get a rainout we would have to sweep Stanford to win the league unless FSu loses again tomorrow. If we beat unc then they could help us against fsu without passing us and we could win with 2 wins against Stanford.
Basically the top three spots are up for grabs with 4 games left and we're all going to have played a different amount of games so it's complicated.

Think if we were to lose tomorrow and FSU drops one to UNC we would be 1st with a sweep. Same with 2 losses/ 2 wins etc.

Clemson is the sneaky one assuming they win out

ETA: I'm not a math wizard by any means lol. I also think that with a rainout and a sweep we have it unless FSU wins out. A rainout and 2 leaves almost no chance

ETA X2: I think top 4 is the more important piece but would need to write some freaking excel formulas to figure all those scenarios out lol.

No if we lose tomorrow we can't be 1st unless FSU also loses to cal again. Because in your scenario we would be 19-10 (.655) and fsu would be 18-9 (.666). And if unc won 2 of 3 against fsu they would win. So we have to win tomorrow ( or hope Fsu loses to cal) to have a shot. If it's rained out we would still be in it but would be easier with the extra win.

You're right. I was looking at wins and assumed FSU was flying back today from Cal
Kmcpack
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Basically 4 wins we're first. 3 wins we're most likely 1st if one of them is tomorrow. And 2 wins and we are very likely a top 4 seed.

If we get rained out tomorrow...
1. NC State wins the acc if we sweep Stanford,
--> AND FSU loses at least 1 more game

OR

2. NC State wins 2 of 3 v Stanford
--> AND GT loses 1 of their final 5 games (hopefully easy)
--> AND unc beats fsu exactly 2 of 3 (in all other results of unc vs. fsu, unc or fsu win the acc)

If the pack wins tomorrow,
-->then scenario 2 adds any scenario where unc sweeps fsu in Tallahassee as a path where NC state wins the league, but no additional pathways through scenario 1
Kmcpack
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah I was thinking there were more ways that winning today would help us than it does. Kind of weird.
One other possibility is fsu could lose today and if we win or don't play then fsu could win 2 of 3 against unc and we could win with 2 of 3 vs Stanford and be #1.
Kmcpack
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Next question is (Ethan posted this on twitter). Do we want to risk playing today if a win has little effect on the league race just for the rpi boost or hope for a rainout. Warren Nolan says we are at 25 rpi right now. I think if we win today we probably host definitely with 2 more against Stanford. But if we win the league I would think we would host anyway.

I'm fine starting Andrews. But you have to view today different than a Dom Fritton start. This is a bullpen game.

If he gives you an inning or two. You gotta be ready to pull him at the first sign of trouble.

You'll have plenty of arms today.
