Given our bullpen, it's not like we got a lot of options for guys that can actually throw strikes.
They needed to pull him about three batters ago.

Its 6th inning. You are going to have to go to bullpen at some point. Dom aint pitching 270 pitches. You got to pull him after 100 in 6.
The coaching decision to leave him in at 100 pitches cost us that inning. In the 6th we went from being about to break it wide open to losing.
Fourth time through the lineup this inning. Think he was at 85 pitches entering this inning, up to 116 now.

Tried to ride our guy through the 6th. Got to a 2 strike count twice with two outs and UVA made some good swings.
Avent allows UVA to score 4 runs and UVA leads 5-4
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Avent has always reminded me of Bobby Cox. Hes really loyal to his guys to a fault. I respect it even if it doesnt work out all the time. But man it makes you shake your head cause it goes against the numbers.

Guys some of Fritton's best innings this year have been when he's over 100 pitches. He was still touching 95. Gets to a two out, two strike count and UVA makes a swing. The other team is allowed to make a clutch swing too.

They had two runs. Dude hits a 94moh exit home run to the short corner. Ground ball for a base hit. They weren't banging the ball. He had him in a two strike count. That's a hindsight decision. Like 10th on the complaint list from tonight with 1-9 being offense

He was laboring way too much towards the end of that inning. You get two on there after the first home run go to the right on right matchup. Fourth time best hitter seeing a guy who wasn't locating nearly as well.

Yeah but thats a pretty outlier stat. Its going to burn you at some point. Baseball is a game that we have so much analytics on. Cant imagine College pitcher over a hundred Pitches 4th time through the lineup the card tells you to keep him in.

I just prefer going to the matchup there, that's high leverage situation and it burned you.

Chrysler is one of those coaches we shouldn't question, IMO. He pulls the right string most times at the right time.

Dom is good but you cant keep expecting him to be superhuman.

Just can't make plays when we need them
Man this is the most non fundamentally sound teams State has had in a long while
Imploding. Heavner makes that play 9 out of 10 times.

My biggest gripe with Avent is by far he's too old school and hasn't adapted more to the analytics or data. It's hard to push the right buttons in every situation but there is plenty of information available that gives you the help. He went with his guy there and it might not have mattered either way with how bad this pen is right now.
For two teams that were supposed to be really good this year, both teams have played like sh*t this entire game.
