There is a lot on this pitching staff, as we expected, and they really aren't living up to the billing. We knew coming in that this team likely wasn't going to be a high level offensive team, but the expectation was we had a solid starting staff and a lights out pen. So far, the pen has been a mess and we need more from Marohn on Sundays.
Most importantly, the bullpen needs to get settled down and start being the strength it was expected to be. The parts are there but guys have to start performing consistently.
If you can run out Schaffner, Nance, Dudan, Consiglio, and Smith throughout a weekend from the 5th or 6th on that should be a pretty good recipe for success with our starters regardless of whether we are getting great offensive production. That isn't even mentioning other bullpen arms that can get outs. We need Dudan, Consiglio, and Smith to get going.
