Pitching has looked a lot better outside of Saturday. Still want to see how this team hits against better competition though. This team is going to have to hit with the lack of power I feel they don't have.
And the pitching was really good on Saturday until CK fell apart. Still hate pinch hitting McHugh when the game could've just ended with a base hit.

I checked this morning for kicks. This includes some really poor defensive plays that did not count as errors and were therefor scored as earned runs (Hogue in RF in JAX & Jaros bunt defense notably let in 3-5 runs "earned)

True rotation guys have a 2.56 combined ERA, excluding Dudan, with the highest being Consiglio who I doubt pitches at 4.15 all year. That's Fritton, Marohn, Andrews, Nance, Shaffner, Lucas, & Consiglio. The whole staff is down to 3.82 even with Dudan sitting over 9 and I think we all expect that to improve.

The starters are sitting at 2.02 on the season.

I'd pull him on a high note, will be interesting to see if he comes back out though.
I'm letting him ride. Would be really interesting to see, if Smith gets healthy, Dudan used like Villaman was in 2021.
Villaman ended up being the setup guy by the end of the year, which is basically what Dudan was last year and what we assumed this year as well?

I'm not letting Dudan go through a lineup twice I don't think, unless he just keeps pitching like he is now lol.

Everyone has been hard on Dudan so far (and he's not been good) but he's been put into some **** situational far. And I get that's the job. But it's not been starting a clean inning etc. not been simple
Liberty he came in to start the inning and the Canisius blow up he had faced one batter in the 8th and had the 9th to himself. Coastal was the only time he came in with multiple runners on IIRC. I don't think it's excusable and would think he and the staff agree.

It was good to see him potentially figure some stuff out. I'm still a little nervous about how easy guys turn on his fastball and the frequency in which the slider is out of the zone. I think well coached teams with a good approach at the plate will spit on the slider until he throws it for multiple called strikes.
When you asked the other day why guys were swinging first pitch against him the first thing I thought was they are sitting fastball there.

I think it is pretty obvious by now that he has been figured out. He looked a lot better yesterday at throwing the slider in the zone but he will have to keep doing it to keep batters honest.

The rotation and staff in general been excellent about all year outside of walks IMO. I fear Doms stats are probably inflated and he has a blowup at some point but he looked very good last weekend. Smith has also yet to return and should help settle the pen if/when he does. Same with Matty but I'm not sure he takes anyone's spot in the rotation as of today.

The hitting worries me more, not sure there is enough power in the lineup to makeup for mistakes by the pitchers or defense.

Yeah I'm not going to get my hopes up until I see it vs. ACC arms. We were OK against Chapman the other night and he's pretty good, but we are going to see a lot of studs here soon.

I think we learn a lot in the Friday VT matchup. Brett Renfrow is a big-league talent. Power arm
