THis season has been a disaster but there is absolutely no reason to trade anyone other than Sale. You want good talent and you have invested heavily in basically all position players. You aren't trading (or would be stupid to trade) Riley, Ronnie, Ozzie, Olson, Baldwin, and probably not Harris. That is at least 6 position players. Nobody wants any of the other 3. You aren't trading Strider or Schwelly. Who else is worth anything besides Sale? I think people saying to blow it up are nuts.

Ozuna and Iglesias are other pieces that I guess they could trade. Not sure what market is for them but supposedly it is a sellers one.

Better break that core of players up because its not working and the GM screwed up getting locked into long term contracts with players because they were young and had a nice year. And to top it off.... their fam system has been depleted to a bottom half of MLB. They need to trade a few guys for some top end prospects because they are not moving ahead of Philly or NY anytime soon.

Baseballs a funny sport, just a year or 2 ago the Braves were lauded for locking up all this young talent relatively cheap. It seemed like they found a cheat code and were destined for greatness for the foreseeable future.

Austin Riley looked like he could be a MVP type candidate a couple years ago and now has had a year and a half where his power and OPS has slipped quite a bit.

Ozzie Albies issues are more about staying healthy.

Michael Harris burst on the scene and has progressively gotten worse each year. His numbers have really fallen off a cliff offensively.

If I'm the Braves and looking to sell, I'd do my best to shed Ozuna. He still has value to a team needing pop in the line up, he's a vet and his best days are certainly not ahead of him (plus I'd imagine as a fan you'd just assume not be forced into cheering for a dude with his baggage).

It's too early to throw in the towel on the big picture of this core though. Players go through hot steaks and cold spells, often season long ones! As a Mets fan Pete Alonso is a good example. He was fantastic his first season or two and then slowly started seeing his average fall and power numbers dip. Last year he bottomed out in a contract year to the point the Mets didn't really seem to care if they resigned him or not but there was no major market for him so he came back to the Mets but not on a long term deal like he wanted. Now he's having the best stretch of baseball he's had … maybe in his career? Lindor has had similar ups and downs right in what you'd assume would be the prime of his career. Francisco Alvarez is a mirror image of Michael Harris. Burst on the scene with the most homers for a rookie catcher not named Johnny Bench in league history and then has face planted offensively ever since - now sent back down to the minors to try and work things out.

This may not be the Braves year, but I'd caution against trying to blow the whole blueprint up. I remember reading on a Braves thread on pack pride a few years ago and fans were questioning Acuna and if the team was better without him. He was struggling and I guess his style was wearing thin, I'd assume those same fans are happy he didn't get moved now.

Ebbs and flows.

The Braves have lost nine of their last 11 games after being swept by the Orioles.

Atlanta is 11 games under .500 for the first time since finishing 72-90 in 2017.

I can see Iglesias and Bummer getting moved. Doubt Ozuna goes anywhere as he has 10/5 rights and can veto any trade. Ozzie has zero value. You absolutely hold onto the core (Ronnie, Olson, Riley, Drake/Murphy, Harris II, Strider, Sale and Schwelly, Lee). Just gotta hope Harris II figures it out this offseason, and that Ozzie increases the bat speed (I think they exercise the CO because its only $4m and hes been a leader for years). I love Allen's defense but, if you keep Ozzie, you HAVE to upgrade at SS.

That was amazing!

A couple of thoughts : 1 - the 3rd base coach HAS to be more demonstrative telling the runner to slide. 2 - the runner was looking like he was out for a light jog, not great hustle!

This play had me looking up past great throws, Bo Jackson had a couple of fantastic ones (although some shoddy camera work on the Harold Reynolds one at home) Jose Guillen had an amazing one, Vlad Guerrero had a couple and Puig had one too.

That Acuna throw is in the running for most impressive one ever for sure. Certainly comparable to some of the other great ones in history that I could remember or find online.
