Yeah, that's the conventional wisdom, which obviously didn't work just now. Just seems to me that with the tying run on second and two outs, the batter isn't going to matter unless he hits a homer. With the outfield in, they would've maybe had a play at the plate to win it. Moot now.

He swung. It's Ok the HP Ump couldn't tell. It's brutal the 3rd base Ump missed it. If only there was some other way to look at plays like maybe some type of replay system. And yes I know it wasn't reviewable but the rules need to expand.

UVA stranded a million base runners. Felt like every inning UVA got the lead off man on with a walk or HBP, especially early in the game. Twice the had runners on the corners with less than 2 outs. Another time had 2nd and 3rd with no outs and I think they got 1 run out of that situation. Poor hitting with runners on and then a boneheaded decision to pitch to Honeycutt. I get Cook has a higher AVG behind him, but I wouldn't necessarily call him a better hitter. His OPS is lower than Honeycutt and Honeycutt has been the epitome of clutch. He's an upperclassman and about to be a first round pick, take your chances with someone else, ANYONE else.

Then FSU choking it away. Agreed that it could have, and probably should have been strike three on the check swing, but geez. Major meltdown on the biggest stage. That blows. Sitting in the cat bird seat, looking like you are about to knock out #1 in game 1 and be in the winners bracket against a familiar foe, and then that.

Hopefully today goes better with the Pack winning.
