Zero ties to NC with her resume.

As someone that has coached Travel Softball in North Carolina for several years and currently has a 2026 softball player, I can tell you that NC State is "not relevant" in the softball world. Needed to hire someone with NC ties IMO,

Perhaps they tried and got Plan F. I hope she does great and wins BIG .

Just adding my .02
Nothing wrong with adding your opinion. You paid for that right and are entitled. I definitely agree that NC State is off the grid in softball statewide, which should never happen.

Perhaps Leftwich and her staff can build those connections?

I am trying to get an interview with her once I get back from South Carolina. I look forward to hearing about her plans.

I think your concern about NC ties is valid but I doubt getting a longtime assistant from an SEC school that has been to 4 CWS making the finals twice was ever Plan F. I'd rather go with someone with her resume over somebody with NC ties. Excited to see what she can do.

Perhaps you are correct and she was Plan A. I know HC from UNCG, UNCC and Longwood all have recruiter our footprint and have HC experience have been met with in our current or recent searches.

Just 3 examples.

I hope she wins BIG. Softball has a long, long way to go.

that's what is interesting about softball, no team really has a LONG way to go. you get a stud pitcher and a couple good ones, and you are almost locked into a regional. much easier to build a softball team compared to other sports

I would love to read that interview. Hear from her about her direction for the program. Recruiting will be vital.

she has spent 16 years with current LSU coach...12 at LSU and 4 at previous school (one of those minor Florida schools). Maybe needs to have head coach on resume to have crack at LSU job when her former boss retires?

Lets hope this turns out better than Charita Stubbs in volleyball, (last time we hired a P5 assistant for a womens sport) who managed to pick a fight with Technician and not much else in her four years.

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

NC State had a volleyball head coach without previous head coaching experience after Stubbs. Her name is Linda Hampton-Keith. She was fired at NCSU, but has since been hired as head coach at Temple.

Charita Stubbs also was recently hired to a new gig, as she was named head coach at Arizona back in January. Stubbs was head coach at Grace Christian for a bit also.

So, what does volleyball have to do with a softball coach? I'm lost.

um, I'll take "nonrevenue sports for women that NC State has struggled in" for $400.

But, you understand that just because something happened a number of years ago in one sport, it doesn't have any bearing on a completely different sport, right? It would be like hiring a basketball coach from Boston College and people saying "it didn't work out when we hired TOB". They don't have anything to do with one another in actual application. What are the merits and qualifications of the coach hired in the sport that she's coaching, that should be the discussion.

You're trying to reason with the most negative person alive my friend.

He's also forgotten that we hired Braden Holloway from Va Tech as a P5 assistant (after Stubbs) and he's turned out ok for the nonrevenue women's sport he coaches. Or maybe he didn't forget. ha

NC State head softball coach Lindsay Leftwich has announced her staff with the addition of Paige Cassady and Mike Bosch as assistant coaches.

Cassady joins the Pack after a season at Texas Tech and will work primarily with the pitchers in Raleigh.

Bosch comes to NC State after spending the last five seasons as an assistant coach at Florida. He will work with the Wolfpack defense in addition to handling data and player development.

PAIGE CASSADY
"Paige is one of the brightest pitching coaches in our game. I had the pleasure of coaching Paige at FIU, and I am so proud of the coach, mentor and mother she has grown into. I am ecstatic to get to do life with Paige and her family in Raleigh," said Leftwich. "Paige is an avid learner and is never afraid to stretch her own philosophies to grow her players. She is compassionate and will foster impactful relationships with the players and fully embodies the idea that teams 'win with people first'. Paige will help build women that can change the world. Our program is extremely lucky to have a coach of her caliber joining the team."

During the 2023 season at Texas Tech, Cassady helped the Red Raiders pitching staff lower its earned run average by over half a run.

Prior to her time in Lubbock, she spent nine seasons as the pitching coach at Liberty where she helped the pitching staff lower its ERA every season. She started as an assistant coach for the Flames in 2013 and was elevated to associate head coach in 2018 after the program saw its winningest four-year span. She received national recognition at the conclusion of the 2018 campaign when she was tabbed Assistant Coach of the Year by the NFCA. Under her guidance, 11 pitchers were named All-Conference, four earned Pitcher of the Year honors and three earned NFCA All-Region honors.

Under her tutelage, Emily Kirby was tabbed Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Year in both 2021 and 2022. Julia DiMartino also garnered back-to-back Pitcher of the Year honors in 2017 and 2018 when the Lady Flames were in the Big South Conference.

Cassady played two seasons at Presbyterian College, where she secured 16 wins in the circle. Prior to her junior season, she transferred to Florida International to play for then-head coach Beth Torina and assistant coach Lindsay Leftiwch. She spent time in the outfield and in the circle for the Panthers.

MIKE BOSCH
Leftwich said, "Mike is an incredible find for the Wolfpack. As a decorated SEC assistant and experienced former head coach, Mike's path to NC State will help push the program forward quickly. Mike brings a wealth of knowledge that he tactfully applies to all aspects of the game. His ability to understand data, analytics and biomechanics is unmatched, but he sets himself apart by how he conveys those ideas to the players. He is truly the professor of player development. His relational qualities as a husband and father can easily be seen in how the players respond and grow under his coaching. He has amassed a ton of connections in the travel ball and high school community and will continue to recognize talent at an elite level. I am honored to add Mike to my family."

Bosch comes to Raleigh after working primarily with the Florida pitching staff where he helped develop Elizabeth Hightower into an All-SEC Freshman Team selection. He also mentored Natalie Lugo who led the NCAA in saves (6) in 2020. Under his leadership, the Gator pitching staff maintained an ERA below 3.70 in the last five seasons.

Prior to his time in Gainesville, he spent three seasons as the head coach of fellow ACC opponent Syracuse. During his time at the helm of the Orange, he led the development of six All-ACC selections. One of those was a 2017 Top-10 finalist for USA National Player of the Year, Sydney O'Hara. In his final season leading the Orange in 2018, he helped guide then-sophomore Alexa Romero to a nation-leading 10.9 strikeouts per inning.

Bosch also previously spent 13 years as head coach at Iowa Community College. During that time, he garnered a 525-236-2 record. He helped produce 28 All-Americans and 81 All-Region athletes, in addition to leading the team to two National Junior College Athletic Association Championships. The 2008 team placed fifth and the 2010 team finished third in the tournament. Bosch and his staff were also tabbed the NFCA Midwest Coaching Staff of the Year both years.

NC State softball season tickets are on sale now. The team's 2024 slate will be released at a later date.

NC State head softball coach Lindsay Leftwich has announced the addition of Grayson Radcliffe to her staff as an assistant coach Monday afternoon.

Radcliffe will focus on base running, slapping, and camp, while also assisting with offense and defense.

Leftwich said, "I am excited to add Grayson to the staff. She is dynamic, relational, and will bring a youthful energy. She brings a different perspective to the staff and will take pride in loving, challenging, and teaching each member of the Wolfpack. Her experience as a student-athlete and time as a graduate assistant, who focused on student-athlete welfare and growth, will be a tremendous asset to the program."

Radcliffe spent the 2023 season as a graduate assistant at Indiana, where she also played the final four years of her collegiate career. During her time in the Crimson and Cream, she was a 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee, two-time All-Big Ten honoree and three-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Honoree. At the conclusion of her junior season in 2021, she was tabbed CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team and NFCA All-Region Third Team. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, she was awarded the Big Ten postgraduate scholarship and started working toward her master's degree in the 2022-23 school year.

Look at how difficult it has been to raise money for Doak improvements. My point is, there isn't a lot of cash sitting around for a sport like softball. We are DFL among all public universities in ACC in athletics fundraising last time I looked (neck and neck with Georgia Tech)

We do some funky stuff with how we report those #s. When you look at actual $$ we are not last. More is always better but I have seen several times that those reported #s are not accurate. Not everyone reports the same way etc

Bordeau was ranked 58th coming out of hs. The 3rd best catcher. Hit really well and had great defense. She hasn't hit well in college but has played great defense and throws runners out. She missed last season recovering from shoulder surgery. Hope she can find her bat here.

NC State head softball coach Lindsay Leftwich has announced that Carson Shaner will remain on staff as the Director of Operations for the Wolfpack Tuesday morning.

Shaner spent the 2023 season as a graduate assistant with the Pack and was later elevated to an assistant coach. She helped with all aspects of the program but focused mainly on defense and the outfield.

Leftwich said, "I am excited to have Carson remain on the staff as the Director of Softball Operations. As a former NC State athlete, her love for the program radiates out of her and her desire for the program to be successful is unmatched. As a former graduate assistant, the new role will allow her passion for NC State to be demonstrated in different ways. Her impact on the program will be one that will take us to the next level. She is organized, communicative, and desires greatness in all that she does. She is an incredible addition to the staff and I am very excited to work with her."

After playing her first two collegiate seasons at UNC Wilmington, she transferred to NC State where she was team captain her senior year. She ranks tenth in program history in sacrifice flies and appeared in 97 games. During her three seasons in the Red and White, Shaner recorded only two fielding errors to finish her career with a .977 fielding percentage. She was also a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC).

She completed her bachelor's degree in sports management in 2022 and her master's in parks, recreation, tourism and sport management in 2023.

Perhaps, but lets put it this way: we certainly aren't in the top 5 in the ACC among public universities...my point remains that funds for sports that don't generate much revenue (softball at this point is basically a "boyfriends, girlfriends, and family members" gate) are unlikely to see major investments in upgrades...
