I saw the news hit this weekend regarding irregularities concerning Alabama baseball that lead Ohio and Massachusetts gaming commissions to suspend all betting on Alabama baseball games. I assumed something was going on inside the Bama program and today, this news broke. Yep. People can read more about it here. I honestly believe these types of stories will continue. The key is the punishment and in my opinion, it should be severe. Players and coaches involved should face permanent bans from the sport, if they are found guilty.JCooke93 said:

I share your concern. It is why I feel so strongly about any players or coaches who violate the rules with regards to gambling. Permanent bans from the sport are harsh and they should be. Yep, that was the real reason behind me even creating this post. Very treacherous waters we're entering now with the increased access to sports betting.

I was aware of the rule, since my son is a former college student-athlete, but I am not sure how well this rule is understood by the general public. I suspect gambling on sports by student-athletes is going on at large number of universities and with the growth of legalized gambling across the country, I anticipate it will grow.Quote:
