The funny thing is that we play the least about of small ball of any team in the country probably, and it's still too much. I'm also old enough to remember people complaining that we are too home run dependent. It's always something.

You're right. Every pitch and every at bat is about execution. I don't know how good a bunter Cozart is but he looks pretty efficient. It's not as easy as it looks to be a good bunter. You said he should have bunted to make the 3rd baseman play it. I disagree. If you are going to bunt then you bunt it down the first base line with a left handed pitcher...but you know that I am sure. I want my #3 hitter who is hitting .349 coming into the game today swinging away. The sacrifice from Barkett in the bottom of the 9th I can live with. The other two I cannot. Candelaria should not have bunted last night.

I am from the Earl Weaver school of baseball. I only get 27 outs and I am not wasting them. He had pretty good success doing just that and I thought Avent had gotten away from this the last couple of years, but old habits die hard. I don't pay one bit of attention to analytics, but I think those even say to swing away and not bunt.

We were lucky it did not come back to bite us.

It's a great luxury to have a guy on the bench that hit .260 last year with 9 HR and 33 RBI. He made 5 errors in the field (which I always thought was partly due to not being fully recovered from his injury), and struck out too much, but he's a good player. He's also a good team player to go from starting nearly every game to rarely playing and staying locked in. Good for him to have this moment.

Double plays aren't giving away outs. You aren't trying to give the other team a free out in that scenario. So that's not really even remotely similar. But not worth arguing anymore. Great comeback win today and glad we got the sweep!

I often try to tell folks that NC State has a tough non-conference schedule but folks never seem to listen. Just playing in-state schools is a massive challenge.
