Ok I'll be that guy. Why is your Closer throwing this inning? You're up 11 runs.

NC State has not been a good defensive team for most of this season, and that is not exclusive to Green. Plenty of players needed to improve.
When they make the defensive plays within their skill and range, have a starting pitcher get them into the sixth inning or beyond, and get solid relief pitching (especially middle relief), NC State can play with anyone.
The Wolfpack was especially good at not wasting at-bats Friday against FSU.
1. Once again, I did not bring up "Gino vs. PG" but merely related the stats, which said that Green was not the only one making errors and that he, in fact, did not have the worst fielding percentage at that time.Alex Gee said:Rob McLamb said:Posting or mentioning stats is not a "Gino vs. PG defense discussion" unless others choose to make it that way.Alex Gee said:

You never responded to me last week when you brought up Gino vs. PG and I pointed out that PG seemed to have limited range against Gino having to make really tough, rangy plays. Gino made two incredible plays with range tonight including the one I was citing above. I still believe stats need to be thrown out and go with the eye test when it comes to baseball defense. Why else would you bring up their fielding percentages if not to make it a debate?
And, FWIW, it feels like almost every costly error or misplay has happened at SS/LF this season.
Thank you. Rob knew what he was doing and all the incredulity he can muster won't convince me otherwise. hahaAlex Gee said:Rob McLamb said:Posting or mentioning stats is not a "Gino vs. PG defense discussion" unless others choose to make it that way.Alex Gee said:

Gino has made two errors over the last month and one of those was questionable (against Louisville). Kid has played clean in the field and started to get hot at the plate.
When Nolan and Candelaria are in CF and RF we get clean play out there. I don't think Noah Soles is some defensive stalwart but he was consistent and made the easy plays each game, we miss that. Marcy, Trice and Nixon are some adventurous defenders out there. haha

Logan's last 3 starts before Wake he pitched into the 6th inning of each game. Be nice to get 6 or 7 out of him tomorrow to keep that bullpen fresh.
