Rob..........................................................................
what?
How that's fielding percentage looking on that last pop fly?
You figure it out, or click the link I provided when the game ends.
Don't make a production about it. I said he had a higher fielding percentage than Groover. Don't act like I said the kid was Ozzie Smith.
Don't get defensive (pun intended) Rob, but you came with the troll job to start all this. LOL!
How many runs has Payton Green's mental errors cost the Wolfpack over the last 3 or 4 weekends? 6 or more, at least.
He cost them 5 just on Tuesday alone.
Sht, I even forgot about the midweek game.
Forgot about that, too. Don't know if we blame him or Trice, but either way, pack has a good chance of winning that game if that error doesn't happen.
The SS takes that ball every time with regards to where it was. The LF has to come in on a dead sprint to reach and all Green had to do was move to his right just a hair. He has to call off the LFer there.
Need to give Kalae some innings at SS in the midweek game. Let PG DH or put him at 2nd.
My guy Packsd14me has it nailed I think. PG is an OF but I think he can pull off 3rd.
I don't know if I have it nailed but as I said last week, I have seen lots of guys want to SS. He needs to move where he thinks less. RF would be the spot for me to give him a try.
He just isn't sure of himself at all. SS has to be the best fielder on the field all the time. It is by far the hardest, most important non-pitcher spot to play if you want to win. Catcher is a close second. PG doesn't get to enough balls at SS, doesn't field enough balls that he reaches and isn't in the right place often enough. He just isn't a good SS right now. Playing on that plastic at WF should make it easier, no bad hops. He still struggled. He can play deeper (what PG likes) because the ball gets to you faster. He should be more comfortable at WF.
I do think PG could be a 3-hole hitter. Put him in RF. The money position for outfielders in the MLB. He can run, he has the arm, and he can hit for power and average, if he relaxes. It could be the best thing for him.
I will say Rob's stats about fielding are pretty telling. Only 15 more chances at SS than 3b in 31 games. PG is not getting to enough balls. Fielding percentage is not the important part of those stats. Getting to more balls, even if he makes even more errors, is what I want to see.
Here is my point from a long time ago.
SS Don Kessinger Cubs SS has the highest fielding percentage in the NL and wins the Gold Glove.
SS Bud Harrelson Mets SS leads his team, Seaver, Koosman, Nolan Ryan pitchers to the World Series. He made more errors but he had like 400 more chances. There was a big argument as to who was the better SS. Most people sided with Harrelson because his teams won more and his defense was a big part of why they won.
