this season is beginning to feel like the end of the Avent era. This team's going nowhere, all the new transfer rules have to be driving him bat **** crazy (and, frankly, he doesn't know how to do it very well, judging by the numerous deficits in multiple areas on this year's team two years removed from CWS). Why would he stick around?
We might need fresh blood in this program anyway. Perhaps its for the best
Who else you want to fire?
Be careful what you wish for.
The thing keeping me from outright saying "FIRE AVENT!!!!111" is the fact that our facilities are pathetic and he's the only reason why we are remotely competitive. Avent isn't the best coach, I think everyone knows that, but he's the only reason we can land top 25 recruiting classes.
Wish he'd fire chrysler, though.
Oh buddy...
You ever heard of Chris Hart?
Sure. He's not the face of this program, though. Anecdotal, but I'm family friends with Dom Fritton's fam. He committed because he LOVES avent. At last year's christmas party, he said all his classmates LOVE avent.
Avent is the guy. Hart may be next in line and a good recruiter, but you're kidding yourself if you think we'd still pull the classes we do with just Hart and no Avent with our facilities.
I'm really not kidding myself. Avent is awesome, we all know that but he's also had to change his ways as not so long ago he turned kids off and we had a recruiting problem. Part of that change was bringing in Chris Hart. Another more recent change was bringing in Bo Robinson who kids love as well. Coach Bo is legit.
Why do you think Chris Hart is going to get the job when Elliott hangs up the cleats? Chris is also the recruiting coordinator for a reason. He took over that role in 2010...what happened in the 2011 class? We started to land in state studs...Rodon, Fincher, Austin, Ratledge...there were 3 other kids we landed that were drafted and signed from NC. Recent classes before 2011 didn't have a lot of NC flavor, we had no one from the Charlotte area either. Chris is also mad connected in his home state of Florida as we've seen the benefits of since he took over recruiting.
Don't kid yourself, without Chris Hart I'm not sure we pull the classes we are now.
Also, thanks for sharing the Fritton story. Love to hear stuff like that. I have plenty of those myself and it makes you feel good to hear such stories.
