The wheels are coming off... what an awful inning. And still only 1 out.
Elliot has to be pulling his hair out. Some of these fielding errors are unacceptable at this level of college baseball.EthanBarry said:
Unbelievable (yet very believable) meltdown

Villiman should have come in with a 4 to 1 lead in the bottom of the Seventh period.

Agree on Chris that it's too early to bring him in there…but not on Whitaker. He started to get loose with his control in the 6th and all year he's not been a guy that's gone deep into ballgames. Give him the first batter of the 7th maybe…i get the benefit of the doubt cause of how he had pitched…but he showed signs in the 6th that were concerning

I had more issues with the defense and the mental lapses than the pitching. It was worse than Little League. No one was thinking. We panicked. Avent historically has chosen offense over defense. It cost us last night. Three LF's in the outfield together is an issue on tough plays. That's what happens in choosing all bats over defense. Musical chairs in the infield has improved us some but Tommy struggles a little and Groover seems out of position. I think it's time to try Green in the outfield. A great high school SS should be able to adjust to the outfield quickly. Hit him about 500 fly balls and ground balls and find out. His arm would be the best in the outfield and he is not slow. Soles to LF and Dom to DH would likely improve our defense. Just thinking. Marcy seems better in the outfield than Dom or Soles. Maybe Eisert or Giles or both would improve infield defense. Start the bats, sub late innings for gloves. After last night, it's time to try something different. It cost us first place and the plays I am talking about are too easy to give away first place when good 14 year olds make them.

I like the green to the OF and Dom to DH, it can't get worse out there. But no to Marcy out there right now. Promising young player but him and Dom P are both not good in the OF right now. Soles doesn't worry me as much yet as the other two
