As mentioned by head coach Elliott Avent on Saturday, junior catcher Jacob Godman appears to have broken his hand against Georgia Tech. An official announcement hasn't been made yet, but Godman left Saturday's game in the top of the third inning after Yellow Jacket first baseman Andrew Jenkins reached base on a full count after what was ruled catcher's interference. It could potentially be less serious pending further evaluation, but he'll definitely be out of action in the short term.

That sucks. Hope for a quick recovery.

Yup

JC Goodman has reduced our pass balls, hit pretty good and reduced the K % from catching position.
Looks like we've found or RF and catcher. We need to figure out leaf off hitter- leadoff hitter can't lead your team in Ks.

He gets on base 41.5% of the time, just under Jarrett and Groover. Brown has some speed as well.

I always thought JT would be a good leadoff guy. Just seems to get the ball in play. Devo seems more like a 5 hole hitter to me. However, we need to protect Tanks. Overall though, the team seems to be coming together. Next couple of years should be really good.

I think Soles would be a good one. He is fast, really hustles and makes solid contact. Move Brown to 5, Piloli, Green, Godman and Jarrett to set the table again for the top. So here is what I say.


I do think Green shows top of the order talent with the bat, too. Lots of bats in this lineup...and the defense is improving.

Brown gets on base about 4% more than Soles. Soles doesn't walk much but doesn't strike out as much either since he's not really taking as many pitches as Brown does trying to work the count and get exactly what he wants.
I do like Jarrett at the 9 spot b/c he gets on back about 45% of the time which is nice b/c that can lead to he and Brown getting on base for Hood and White to clean up while turning over the order.

Would definitely still like to hear when or if Truitt is expected back and see what he can do. Still don't have a ton of confidence in Dom at the moment
