Yeah - have to wonder what Doeren is telling the football team about vaccinations.
Be equally interesting to know what Dabo and Saban are telling their FB teams about them.
I'd bet money they're putting politics aside and telling them to get the damn shot.
I agree.

Coaches & schools are opening themselves up to major lawsuits for demanding players get the shot so NO none of them are going to do that .
Well sure, they aren't going to "demand" it. But I bet players will be highly convinced.

It's only "political" if someone doesn't get the shot. Lol.
I think the coaches would make it apolitical. It would be "business" or "this is team sacrifice", or something such as that.

I'm not talking about how the coaches present it. I'm talking about how the fans read vaccination. It's only political if you don't get it.

Probably true. But both ways...you know well from the Water Cooler site, there are people out there who refuse to get vaccinated in part because of their political beliefs, and/or distrust of the government intent.

But yes, from a public perception...those who choose not to do so, seem to be assumed to making a statement.

Seems like an easy pitch to me.

"We all know that the risk of COVID to you young guys is really low. However, if you get it you and maybe a lot of the team will have to sit out due to stupid COVID protocols. So lets all get vaccinated so COVID does not get in the way of us winning a championship together"

"we ask you to play a team sport and make all kinds of sacrifices for your brothers so we can enjoy the fruits of our labor. We need 100% of you -- even those who rarely get into the game, but bust their butts in practice and summer, etc, --- to be a part of this effort, blah blah blah."

"Oh, and we don't want to be like NC State and get kicked out of the championship, when we are the best team. Team on 3".

Agreed, seems like a real easy pitch.

this is how i feel as well......unfortunately self inflicted.....I have stated we are already saying similar things as stated above to our HS kids when it comes to getting the vax. We will not make you. But if you get it we have a better chance of reaching our ultimate goal. If you do not.....we cannot promise you a complete season...

Or the ncaa could take the common sense approach and say "Everyone has been given ample opportunity and time to get a vaccination if they so desire. We are no longer Covid testing. Play ball."

And as a bonus, the player that has an adverse reaction leading to a lifelong medical condition can have the satisfaction of knowing their sacrifice will continue past their scholastic eligibility.

Personally, I'd have no issue with that at this point. I don't think that will happen by the fall of '21 though.

My son's school requires all students to be vaccinated for the Fall. Have to submit proof of vaccination to the school by July 1. Can avoid it if you have a documented medical condition or a documented religious exemption.

People like Saban and Dabo are control freaks. I'd be shocked if they didn't have their teams vaccinated to have one less potential hurdle to a championship

Wake is a private school, no? Think they can play by different rules when it comes to this as opposed to a state university.

There are also public schools requiring vaccination.

public universities do require certain vaccinations for all students before they are allowed to enroll in more than 1 class at a time or live on campus. But i would imagine they would need to OK from the state government to require a new one.

I am talking about the Covid-19 vaccine, not vaccinations in general. As an example, UVA and Virginia Tech are two area, state-supported schools that require Covid vaccinations in the Fall. This means all of their players will be required to be vaccinated, unless they have a medical or religious exemption.

Right i agree. I'm saying that most of those public universities waited on the state congress or AG to make a ruling (or give an opinion as to where their ruling would go) before they made their decisions to require it for in person attendance. I know that Virginia's AG publicly state back in April that universities could legally require it for in person attendance.
