Davin Vann: "We've Been Studying Them A Lot"

NC State defensive end Davin Vann continues to make plays for the Wolfpack, and he knows Saturday will be a challenge in the Carrier Dome.

In the dome it's going to be loud. I mean, they're undefeated. Sounds like Clemson all over again in a way.
Yeah. We're just ready to go up there and get it over with, you feel me? It's going to be fun. I mean, it's just another opponent, next people in the way.

What do you know about Syracuse?
We've been studying them a lot. They have a new OC and stuff, so things are a little different than last year, but we've just been studying film.

Is it different playing in a dome? I mean, are you guys practicing in that environment this week at practice?
Yeah, we've been practicing at an indoor. I mean, I wouldn't really say it's too much different other than the turf.

Do you like practicing in the indoor? Just kind of curiosity, is it better than the..
Me personally, I don't like practicing indoor, just because the turf hurts my joints a lot. So that's really the only reason.

What was the mood like at halftime for the defense this past Saturday against Florida State?
We just kind of tried to all stay calm. Even though we were in kind of a tough situation, we kind of just tried to keep our heads. And we knew what we could do, and we said we were going to shut them out. We came out and shut them out, so...

How neat is it Clemson, Florida State, Syracuse. It just never really ends with the Atlantic. How neat is that as a competitor?
It's pretty neat. It's fun. Always looking forward to competition. Good competition makes me better as a player every week. I like to think like Coach Doeren always says get your one more, get 1% better every week, and I feel like playing in such good competition, it just helps.

How’d that win last week... the way you guys won that week, last week? How will that help you guys going forward?
I think it'll help us a lot actually. Because I mean, our word of the week this week is perseverance and I feel like last week demonstrated that like to a T, we were down in a bad situation down by 14 I think, came back, shut them out. Just, I think it showed us that no matter what we get ourselves into, we can always get ourselves out.

Another pretty good quarterback this week. The other guy can run on you if you're not careful, right?
Yes sir.

Shrader... got to be careful with him?
Yes sir. Kind of just the same game plan as all other ones. Keep him in the pocket. Make him beat us out the pocket.

You remember Sean Tucker on tour from last year. What makes him so effective as a running back there? Is he a hard runner?
I say he runs hard. He's a hard runner.
