“Tackle. Tackle people. That was my biggest fear going into last week, and it happened to us for a lot of different reasons. Angles were bad. They were out in space a lot. We’ve definitely got to get better at that.”

“The execution of tackling is that you have to have a good base, and our guys were trying to hit everything full speed. We all know Tanner [Ingle] and how he hit people. It started snowballing on us. We miss one, then we miss two, then we miss eight, then we miss 10. We just have to get better. We have to have better body control. ‘Give up a yard then get a guy down. Don’t let a five-yard hitch turn into a 20-yard gain.’ That’s what happened to us.”

“It’s all about tracking the hips and the pec and having your eyes in the right spot. The problem is we get our eyes, and we go right to the ground, dive, and try to cut tackle people. That’s not we tackle.”

“I thought [Jaylon Scott] played really well. I thought he looked good, looked leaner, looked like he was in shape. I was very impressed with the way he played. He graded out well, and I’m looking for some big things from him.”

“We’re good to go right now, but ask Coach [Dave Doeren] about [Payton Wilson’s status.]. That’s more on him than me."
